Simms Should NOT Have Been Pulled

errr no. Even with the two interceptions, Bray still made a couple throws (TD to Hunter, 3rd down conversions to GJones, throw to Stocker that got called back) that Simms couldn't.

Oh my god. I can't take the rediculous gloom and doomers on this thread. You all should be banned from watching. This is hilarious.

Yeah...thanks to Simms for holding down the fort, but his inability to make quick decisions was his downfall. His skillset is limited and that limitation is only enhanced by his propencity for hanging onto the ball too long.

This is a fruitless topic... We're clearly working on building up the guy that will be around the longest, all else being equal. It isn't a slam on Simms, but he's only got one year of eligibility left. Bray has 3 more. No brainer which one should be developed at this point.

And besides, Bray has in no way hurt our ability to win any more than Simms has or would have.

Chaney's play calling + Bray's youth = a very ugly and hardly watchable game tonight.. Luckily we were only playing Vanderbilt.

Chaney's play calling + Bray's youth + dumb penalties + some dropped passes + a lackluster performance by the offensive line + some poorly executed plays = a very ugly and hardly watchable second half tonight.. Luckily we were only playing Vanderbilt.

You do realize that this game was NOT a blow out because we kept getting penalties against us at the worst times possible. The whole team played like the already had won the game. I am not saying this is a good thing. I am simply saying Bray did not play ever like the game was on the line. Nor did the team.

Obviously, we are playing much better and are showing significant glimmers of hope for the future. I just wanted to make sure that Jerry form Bulls Gap wasn't forgotten. He has been a UT staple since I was in high school. Even down here in Miami, Jerry continues to have relevance. Tonight's game was not our best, but a win is a win. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with Dooley and everything that is UT football. I had my doubts, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. When we don't play our best and still handle business, you have one happy Vol fan. Beat the Kitties, go bowling, and our future is bright.

I like sims he'd be my choice if he made the throws on time and had better awareness. But bray has proven more to me least he takes the sack and don't try to force it and throw and int everytime. But if sims would have never been pulled I say we woulda lost tonight.

10/13 153 yards, TD 0 ints.

The first fumble was not his fault at all. The second was partially his fault for not controlling the ball while moving through traffic. Both were the result terrible blind side protection.

He would never have thrown that pick six. Many high school QBs would have been able to read the defense on that route.

All that said... Bray recovered well and played pretty good the rest of the way, however saying Simms takes too many sacks is like the pot calling the kettle black if you think Bray doesn't do the exact same thing. We don't have the line to protect for all the pass plays the moronic Jim Chaney calls throughout the course of a game.

I'm not saying Bray shouldn't play the rest of the season, all I'm saying is Simms was having a pretty gritty and good game, probably his best as a Vol, when he got benched.

I love these "let me bend over and pull a complete hypothetical and present it as fact" statements. You must have one hell of a crystal ball. Besides, Simms' pick six against Oregon proves he has experience in that dept.
