Remember when ainge would do piss poor in practice and some were calling for Crompton? Hopefully it's like that. Really, all we have to judge Simms on is the O&W game, which leads me to believe we have nothing to judge yet.

I guess we'll all find out in a couple of weeks.

Not to worried about who starts the season. Both QB'S will compete on the field for the job. Will be shocked if at the start of next season Brays not the man.

I know Bray was not at the camp because his arm is 20% stronger than simms

2010 Manning quarterback camp a star-studded event - Stampede Blue

"The list of this year's coach/participants is impressive. It includes Stanford's Andrew Luck, Florida State's Christian Ponder, Tennessee's Matt Simms, Houston's Case Keenum, Boise State's Kellen Moore, Texas A&M's Jerrod Johnson, LSU's Jordan Jefferson, Alabama's Greg McElroy, and T.J. Yates of North Carolina."

I'm happy with him having the second strongest arm, If we can get half of the production out of Simms as some of these guys have put up, I think we will all be happy.

Arm strength hasn't been his problen.....accuracy has been. He's a career 50% passer. Maybe Chaney can fix that.

Whichever guy survives the season without a serious injury will be the man next year....

Hopefully the O & W game was just a fluke. A lot of new players that haven't played together, a new head coach and a lot of players that weren't EE's that Simms will have this fall. In any sport, college or pro, pre season games/scimmages don't mean much if anything.

In the O&W game the OL was split between the two squads.

Agreed. It doesn't matter if he can throw it to the moon if he couldn't hit the broad side of a snow covered barn on Christmas Eve.

I dont know what this big push is behind Bray. The kid's got plenty of time to become great, everything I've heard points towards Simms being the better QB. The OW game is not a good account since it's a mix of Starters, 2nd stringers and walkons playing together. Fall practice will show who the best QB is. when they start doing live scrimmages with pads and all starters, we will know who lives up to the hype and who doesnt.

In my opinion, I hope Simms starts, hes got more experience, anyway you look at it, plus he got the chance to go to the Manning Camp and really improve. CFL is talking about him being the 2nd best QB there, argueably the first.

Good Luck Simms and Go VOLS!

I actually went to University of Louisville and was in the freshman dorms with Matt. Good kid, real smart, had a mind for the game... a lot of players liked him and rallied around him. Just has that "it" factor, kinda guy you'd want in the foxhole with you. He just came into a terrible situation with Petrino jumping ship and then Kragthorpe catastrophe that aided to Matt not being successful at Louisville. The word around the UofL program was his great touch and location. He was known for having a weird motion but everyone raved about his velocity, ball placement, and touch rather than a rocket arm.

Good quote, A little cliche, but I like it.

Hopefully we get to see these characteristics this year.

From the Concord Sentinell Sports Reporter Jake Martin

The Concordia Sentinel: Sports: Manning Camp was entertaining

Talking about the Manning Camp
"As if the SEC wasn't scary enough, watch out for a guy named Matt Simms this season. Simms is the quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers and he possessed the "wow" factor at the camp.

He was runner-up in the passing skills competition to Texas Tech's Taylor Potts, but Simms has got a rocket for an arm. He was throwing the ball like Brett Favre, just firing it in there"

How's that for a quote? Seems like Simms is really opening some eyes out there

You must also take into an account that there WAS NO DEFENSE during his gunslinging expedition at the camp. So, hopefully he can perform the same way during a game situation as he did at the throwing camp. Maybe then we can exalt him.
