Similarities to 98 Vols

All of the breaks went our way in 98. Florida missed a chip shot FG to give us the win in 98. So far this year the breaks have NOT gone our way, ie, last week. Let’s see how the rest of the season goes, but it’s too early to party like it’s 1998.

Remember the year after Peyton left and we didn’t know much about Tee. Then all of a sudden we start winning. Although we have a loss we could have Lloyd a few back then. This team emulates that team to me. A qb no one knows about . Two great rbs we have two maybe three . An awesome d line d backs. Awesome receivers. I think we might be onto something . Remember give Jamal the ball . Look at Thomas. I’m excited needless to say.
Well there is a big difference. Tee had been Peyton's backup for three years. And had looked fairly good on mop up, and the occasional substitution. He knew Cut's playbook about as well as Peyton. Aguilar got here way late, but has done surprisingly well. As I am sure others have said, there is probably a learning curve going on here. Not just from Aguilar's part, but the receivers as well. Plus the 98 team leaned more heavily on the RBs. Travis Henry was a freight train especially vs Arkansas.

But are there similarities? Yeah, I guess so. But we could use an Al Wilson and a Raynoch Thompson. And a Billy Ratliff would be welcome too.

My answer to this thread is "None"

Not the coaches, style, offense, qb, rbs, receivers, defense, linebackers, leadership aka Al Wilson, DB's, kicking game, NIL, transfers, won't go 13-0, etc.

Maybe the only thing similar is we started the season vs The 'Cuse, but not the same Cuse either.

Good chance the corners don’t get back. The team this team would/should be compared to is 22. The overwhelming desire to compare every team to 1998 is one of the weirdest things in this fanbase.
Agree. 1998 defense carried the team including the game vs Florida.

That 98 team pulled out wins against Syracuse and Arky. Should have lost to Arky and managed to somehow win the SECCG against MSU.

I was at the uga game in 98 they were watering at the mouth that Peyton was gone lol the only scored 3
I was there / it was hot as hell…. They were ranked really high and favored and had champ Bailey and etc and Tee and Jamal just pounded them into meat. Al Wilson and that D. Man what a team!
