Part of me wants to laugh, point fingers, and celebrate. :)

Another part makes me want to ask the cop a few questions....like, did you arrest him for basically being a college student? Sounds like his aprehension was warranted, but was the arrest warranted? Read for yourself, and form your own opinions.

A perfect example of why so many people have little use for law enforcement officers.

Yea, kind of absurd. The officer could have done much less and solved the situation. But there goes that power trip thing.

I understand that what he was doing would probably be considered disorderly conduct, but it seems that he could have broken that up and talked to him and if he remained calm like he stated he was why not give him a stren talking to and let that be that????

Maybe we can get Freak to give him the name of the attorney he consulted about his unnecessary honking citation.

I love how the cop took it upon himself to remind Simeon of what school he plays for. Just arrest the guy or let him go officer, it's not your place to hand out a lecture.

The thing that is making this so newsworthy in bammer, is the fact that his father his the former team chaplain, and is heralded as one of the all time great players for the bear and bammer. His father went on record yesterday saying that this was being blown out of proportion, and "Should be dismissed by the end of the day." He has come off as very pompous in the matter. Let's remember, Simeon has gotten many a personal foul penalties for trash talking, and in reading the arrest report I think that if he had remained quiet and respectful after being handcuffed, instead of mouthing off it might have been resolved. Here is the thing i don't get. The line that stated "Aren't we supposed to call coach Saban." Did the bionic coach tell the officers to have a no tolerance policy with his players? Because someone correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't it break NCAA rules for a coach to come in or bail out a player when that player is arrested? I think so.

Before i say anything, i want to make sure you guys know that i freaking hate bammer. With that out of the way, my son's best friend was coming out of Buffalo Phils when this happened. My son's friend who has been to several UT games with me and knows my frustration with the UTPD and KPD told me I'd be proud of the cops that arrested Castille. He said Castille had done nothing wrong, had not been drinking and had no weapons. He was just clowning around with the players that drove by in a car.

This is very unlike the TPD. They as well as the campus keystone cops (or is it capstone cops, whatever...) usually are discreet with the bammer athletes (I wish our cops would be a little more discreet). This cop went Barney Fife. While his captain is backing him up, I betcha Barney has had his ass kicked from one end of the station to the other.

I remember when I was a teenage, I was waiting in line with a few friends at the Krystal on 23rd St (Chattanooga). CPD was there for security. It was about 15 people in line (because the service was slow) and people were talking pretty loud. Anyways, the officers came up to a group of girls in line and told them to shut up because the cashiers would have trouble hearing orders and what not. Nothing wrong with trying to get people to settle down. I had no problem with that.

But the other officer standing behind him patting his pistol while it was in the holster I had a BIG problem with.

Some of these cops get a hard on for power trips. But there are more good ones than bad ones, though.

In other news...

Two UA players plead not guilty to disorderly conduct charges | TuscaloosaNews.com

Not that we couldn't have our own players getting caught up in some crap, but this is a funny quote...

Upchurch was handcuffed with his arms in front of him when he told officers he had just undergone shoulder surgery.

The officer told Upchurch that he would call UA head football coach Nick Saban, to which Upchurch replied “F- - - - him and f - - - - y’all,” the officer wrote. When another officer asked him to calm down, he said “UAPD officers don’t mean s- - - to him,” the officer wrote.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. I didn't see the arrestable (if that's a word) offense in that report. With the admission that the officer recognized Castille, sounds like a Wyatt Earp type of arrest, in other words, making the arrest for his own notoriety..

The report was very strange. Why did the officer go out of his way to mention Coach Saban twice? Why was it so detailed? A lot doesn't make sense. I think for sure the charges will be dropped. I say this not as a Bama fan but as someone with common sense.

Trust me, I've seen much worse on "The Strip" in Knoxville and cops just talk it through and tell every one to go the hell home.

I hate Alabama, but this is pretty ridiclious on the cops part.

I also heard that the cop slapped Simeon and asked him if he was going to do anything other than stand there and bleed.

As much as I hate Bammer, this is what happens when delusional UT fans carry guns and handcuffs. This also demonstrates just how dumb the officers that "serve and protect" us are some of the time. This guy needs to be fired IMO.
