Signature win?

I was asking a serious question and you failed to answer that. I get that it is a big win but in the grand scheme of things signature wins mean nothing so I always wondered why coach worshipers get so wrapped up in them.

Because it is huge for a team that has been saddled by a losing mentality and lacks confidence in itself. It also justifies what the new coaching staff has been preaching to the players, and also to commits and future recruits.

Yes.

Double digit under dog to an SEC West opponent. And we win pretty convincingly.

Signature win unlocked.

Everyone was asking what coach Pruitt's first "Signature win" would be. Well, you just watched it. Turning the dogcrapp team we had last year and saw the first game or two into the team that won against Auburn today is a helluva good statement to make that UT is going to be coming back into its own.

Snap the record 11 game SEC losing streak
First win against Auburn since 1999
First SEC win
First win against a ranked team!

Guys played with heart today, darn fine hits and some fantastic plays by JG and our WRs. Give Helton some big credit today too! Great time management by the team as well during the last 5 minutes to run the clock down. GO VOLS!!! Next week is probably going to sting but after that, WGWTA!!
We became a genuine SEC team today

Really happy for the guys on the field. I can’t imagine how tough it has been but they stuck together and pulled through. Go Vols. Also, definitely a signature win. We beat Aurburn at home and that isn’t easy

I don't know what I just saw or where that has been all year, but that was Tennessee football.
This team is good, but not magicians. They seem to know what to do and how to get the team to understand. No fluff, no catch phrases, just good old fashioned hard work and drive.

Why does everyone worry about signature wins? Just because a coach wins one doesn't mean he will pan out.
Simple! Until you get 1 signature win, you can't get a 2nd. Until you get a 2nd signature win, you can't get a 3rd. Until you get a 3rd signature........

Have no idea what a signature win is supposed to be but seems like an unlikely thing to happen on a coaches' first conference win ever.

We won today despite Helton. Some of the worst play calling ive seen. Regardless, great win!!Go Vols

I am not sure what game you were watching? You just dont like his run up the middle calls. The STRATEGY does not require every single play to be great but rather to keep them honest in the run game so that they cant apply pressure on JG and so he can toss the ball way down field - and he did that, OFTEN today.

Bottom line: AU was ranked #21, we beat them at their place. Signature win indeed.
I agree, signature win. I was the second poster on the thread and immediately agreed, however, let's be honest, this Auburn team will not sniff the top 25 again this season, has already lost 3 games and will be boatraced 3-4 more times this season. Things are never as good as they seem after a win, or as bad as they seem after a loss, that's still true, even now that we are on the winning side of that adage for the first time in the last 12 conference games.

When you haven’t won a SEC game in almost two years a SEC win will be a signature win. Add a ranked opponent on the road and I’ll say yes.

Now Auburn was reeling from a disheartening loss last week and we had two weeks to prepare for them...so I’m curbing my enthusiasm just a little and expectations going forward aren’t much different than before.

But dang it felt good to get a win

I don't think there's any question this is a signature win. Auburn will end the season as a solid, ranked team.

Our team was better today. That's a great feeling. This isn't beating Bama, Georgia, Florida, but it is a sign. Finally, a good sign.
