Signature win?

They're ultimately a 5-7 team, but I'll take it. Best a West team and on the road too!
Yeah they aren't competing for any natties but it proved a lot of things about the capabilities of the team when they open up the offense and get some takeaways on defense.

Why does everyone worry about signature wins? Just because a coach wins one doesn't mean he will pan out.

Beating anyone when you are a 2 TD dog at their hours and win it’s a big deal. But we broke a bad sec losing streak, a bad sec west losing streak, and a bad losing streak to Auburn and we did it against a ranked Auburn team.

I don’t care if it’s signature or not, it just feels damn good

I'm excited about the win for a lot of reasons, but "signature" feels like a stretch.

I think like we saw in the mid-late 80's, signature, program building wins come against top 10 teams.

It's a confidence building win for sure.

A signature win and a milestone for Pruitt.

When is the last time we beat a western conference opponent? I can't remember who it was....

This is absolutely a signature win. On the road, against a ranked SEC West team, a 2 TD underdog, entire new staff and scheme with this roster? If this win isnt a signature win, then I dont know what is. I love it. So happy for all my fellow Vol fans and especially happy for the players. They played their butts off. Pruitt and the coaches did a good job as well.

You got a defense that can force turnovers you can win games. We don't lose many players on defense next season and they are growing up fast. We have a couple guys coming in for the OL that could replace a couple of the present starters. I am happy where we are Pruitt is doing a good job with what Butch left him.

I was asking a serious question and you failed to answer that. I get that it is a big win but in the grand scheme of things signature wins mean nothing so I always wondered why coach worshipers get so wrapped up in them.

If you prefer to wait until TN wins another SECC - hell, make it a NC - before enjoying a game, knock yourself out.
For the rest of us, it elevates everyone from the coaching staff to the 3rd stringers, to the fans. "A big win" - in the grand scheme of things - is something to build on.
