That was a signature win. Butch Jones has had some great signature wins (SC, GA, and now FL) and none any better than that! I am proud of the coaching staff for stepping up. I can be critical as a fan but I am also one to stand up and say job well done! Congrats on a big win! Also, our kids played their hearts out across the board! Barnett was a freaking beast yesterday! Keep that intensity and GBO!!!

Signature win? This may be his signature season. The year that defined his impact on the program. The start of a Dynasty program. As big as this is for the seniors, it's larger than life for the rookies, they have never lost to Florida or anybody.

This is Butch's signature win. In a few years no one will talk about wins over a declining South Carolina team or a Stagnant GA team. We will all remember taking on a top 20 Florida team with a defense being touted as the best in the nation and ending an 11 year streak.

Well that south Carolina was pretty good i think they ended up being top 5 that year

There is no doubt this is Butch's biggest win as HC of the Vols. One thing Butch has to understand is each program has their own unique deal...or "requirements". At Michigan..you'd better beat Ohio State and Mich St. or you're gone. Part of the 'deal' at Tennessee is you'd better find a way to beat Florida. He should have known and understood that. It isn't just "another game". It just isn't. He tries to downplay the importance instead of embracing it. This isn't the time to rip on him though...he did what he had to do and came through in a big way...so it's all good.

We were favored and ranked higher than Florida. We were supposed to win that game. We snapped the streak, which don't get me wrong, was VERY important for this program, but a signature win? No not really. A road win against A&M or a win at home against Bama would be signature wins. SC in 2013 and GA last year were bigger wins.

Even if Tennessee ends up 10-2 in the regular season, this was another step forward... Like the Iowa game, like the Georgia game, like the Northwestern game, now the Florida game.

This is a process, it's an evolution. We will prove we are championship material if we aren't satisfied by this win. Wanting to win more after a huge win like this, that's what makes a champion.

Time to gear up for Georgia.

Six days to the next one. Week by week.

Nothing wrong with me. I just don't count games that you are SUPPOSED to win as signature wins. I acknowledged the streak in my post. Signature wins come against teams you're not supposed to beat (like 2013 SC and 2015 GA).

Yeah, there is something wrong with you. The fact that you are probably among the 1% of fans who doesn't realize that ending an 11-year skid, even whilst favored, is a signature win. If this were rottentomatoes, you'd be the one guy to give a negative review to Citizen Kane. Yeah, you're entitled to your entirely wrong opinion, but realize that it IS wrong.

Obviously, yesterday was Jones' most important game of his coaching career. That makes upcoming games something to look forward to. Happy for him. Hope the team brings the focus and intensity of 2nd half into Athens next week.

Yeah right. I'm sure he has no idea about Florida being one of our biggest rivals. You should go tell him. Had you done that last year maybe he would have tried to beat them. LOL seriously do you hear what you just said? Do you really believe what you just said? I hope you guys don't think that way seriously but I'm afraid that you do. BTW his job is to make the players believe the truth that ALL games matter, not just the Florida, UGA and Bama games.

We've been favored in the past and didn't get it done. I think snapping an 11 game win streak is signature. Being favored is irrelevant. I would venture to say 102K plus would disagree that it wasn't his signature win so far! It was a big win against a rival, conference, and division foe. It was BIG!

I actually understand why he de-emphasizes it for the players sake. The Gators had been such a mental hurdle for this team...

We were favored but when you lose to a team 11 times in a row it means something to the program, fans and eveybody else its stamp on the season so far aka signature win. Give Butch some credit.

Not by any means a signature win. I'm glad we won but we beat a team ranked 19 at home which considering their qb was out they prob didn't deserve that ranking. We looked great in second half but still have a lot of stuff to fix which shouldn't be the case with veteran team in year four. Beating bama would be a signature win

Beating your biggest, most important rival after 11 straight losses, is unquestionably a signature win, especially since they were a Top 20 team with arguably the best defense in the country. I'm not a huge advocate of Jones either Brave, but give the man and his team their due here. That was a huge, signature, perhaps program-defining win yesterday.
