Sidewalk alumni necks

What's funny is that just as many of Auburn's fans are dirt road fans too. They (along with most fans of SEC schools) have no room to talk.

I wonder how things would work out for the "Athletic Department" if all the non UT Graduates quit purchasing shirts, hats, and license plates with T's on them that the Athletic Department gets a royalty on?

What about if all the "Non UT graduates" quit going to games and quit going to Knoxville and quit spending money in town on Game Day and didn't go to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg on Game Day Weekends?

Quit donating to the "Athletic Department" because their business suffered because the 3 to 1 Non-Graduates to Graduates quit going to games and spending money?

I can say this and not offend myself because I am both an alumni and a redneck. In general the goal of the sport of football in the SEC is to depart rednecks from their money and put it in the pockets of the University. Academic type people don't spend money buying a collection of Officially Licensed UT crank baits to display on their wall or a reproduction Coke bottle with Bear Bryant's hat and Big Al's tail on it. Rednecks both those who graduated from college and those who went to work cutting timber in the 10th grade and never looked back buy that stuff and spend money that supports the "Athletic Department" which I suppose supports the University in theory if it doesn't run out of money screwing around with coaching contracts first.

I have a very good suspicion you would end up w/ a Febreeze.... erm.... can I say "enema" in this forum? :birgits_giggle:

There are exceptions to every rule, but odds are pretty good that the guy that busts his hump every day digging ditches, running a farm, defending our country or driving a big truck is going to be a lot harder than the guy that sits at a desk five days a week. :whistling:

Seriously... I can't imagine anyone posting here has a desk job. I just put the jackhammer down and post while I'm between using it and the sledgehammer. You can probably tell that I strike these keys pretty hard.

I probably fall into the category of "Academic type people." I am not a UT alumn. But I want these. I want these now.

If you're a true academic, you don't need that bait. You'll get hurt trying to do real world things like that. Just stick with the dry eraser and pens to lure your prey.

I went to The University of Tennessee...at Chattanooga. Does that count as alumni of UT?

I'm not going to pretend to understand either of those posts....

I don't know where I put it, but someone gave one to me as a gag gift back when I was fishing tournaments. I'll see if I can locate it. I want to say it was a Cordell Spot or something like that. Orange and white and had a T on each side.

I'm officially a "persona non grata" at The University of Tennessee, at Chattanooga. Does that count for anything? :shaking2:

I got a letter from the Dean saying so, although I have since lost said letter. To this day, I wouldn't be surprised if alarms go off when I set foot on campus.... hahaha. :post-4-1090547912:

Ahhh, Stadium Dorm... those were good times.

Nice! :good!:

I didn't say I was gonna use it, I said I wanted it. Sort of like a professor with a collection of artifacts used in more barbaric times.

Ah, hell. Who am I kidding. Academics go fishing, too.

I went to a University in Tennessee. Maybe I'm closer than I though.

I apologize that you can't handle opinions that differ from your own

It's not your opinions that make me sad, it's your reading comprehension and inability to coherently respond to others while claiming to be a UT grad that saddens me.

So far I haven't found it. I used to have a bunch of assorted junk like that in a book case. 2 signed Skoal cans, one from Harry Gant, the other from Charlie Daniels, Tennessee Crankbaits, Bear Bryant Coke Bottle with Big Al's Tail, John Wayne cap pistol, then I got married and the bookcase went to live somewhere else and I'm not sure which box my trinkets went into. We now have a fake tree in it's place. :p

Congratulations on rooting for a school you never attended. Bravo

Rooting for UT football is not the same as rooting for UT the school. The athletic department is not funded with any of the money that you gave for tuition. So, you really have no room to claim fan superiority based only on going to school there.

Also, who's a bigger fan? The guy that has been going to all the home games every season since he was seven yet never stepped foot in a UT class (me), or a guy that never went to a UT game before they were a Freshman in college at UT?

before this thread, I couldn't have told you what pomped means.

Your lexicon is better than mine, but it was a totally new word for me.

Pomping floats and band bleeding were simply beyond my aspirations. I'm glad there are people willing to serve, though. :hi:

WHAT did you do?!

Interesting topic of discussion. I grew up inside Georgia, about 3 miles from the state line. My grandfather was born in Knoxville, so I have always been a fan. I didn't go to school there for financial reasons (out of state tuition/GA HOPE scholarship). I went to a Big Orange Caravan event and heard several people mention about them letting 'anybody' in. Yet in the same breath they talk about how they went to UT-Martin or UTC. It really disturbed me.

I never have nor never will attend the university of Tennessee. Does that mean I'm not a fan? Haha. I haven't missed a game in years. See you guys the 4th. GBO.
