Sidewalk alumni necks

Band huh, man that must have really been tough on you.

If you must know I have BS in Aviation Maintenance Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

Oh and I got my degree while spending eleven hour days working on helicopters in the Army for 20 years. Slighty more difficult than the three hours, two days a week you spent tooting your flute in the band.

Boo Hoo. Being in the band isn't cumpulsory. Just because you chose to prance around in ridiculous uniforms and screw up the gameday experience by blaring garbled versions of bad pop songs while the majority of the crowd was trying to hear out of town scores over the P.A. doesn't merit any praise. Save your sob story. Nobody cares.

The band is easy to make fun of but a great part of college football.

I just have a problem with "fans" that have no degree.
They should all be banished from coming withing 5 miles of campus on game day. The smell of the non-degree holders is terrible. It's a cross between hairspray, PallMalls and cheap booze....We should at least pitch in to give the non-degree holders each a bottle of Febreeze

Ah, the trolling approach again. How very clever of you.

I have a very good suspicion you would end up w/ a Febreeze.... erm.... can I say "enema" in this forum? :birgits_giggle:

There are exceptions to every rule, but odds are pretty good that the guy that busts his hump every day digging ditches, running a farm, defending our country or driving a big truck is going to be a lot harder than the guy that sits at a desk five days a week. :whistling:

I live 10 mins away from the stadium and have my whole life, I have been a fan from as long as I can remember. I have never been a student at UT but that doesn't mean that an alumni of UT is any more of a fan than I am. I've been to lots of games and have supported them through thick and thin. If it were only former alumni and current alumni the we would have a bunch of fans sitting on their a** afraid to be to loud so they won't disturb there neighbor sitting next to them.

You gotta wonder if some of the alumni would have been fans of another school had they not attended UT. My fandom is unconditional.

I have a problem with you looking down on someone because of what they chose to do with their life. School is for some. It is not for others. I am not saying a degree is not worth your time, energy and money. I believe it is. I am one of those that does not have a degree nor have I finished one year of college. But I am a success in life, none the less. I work countless hours to support my family and I am also part owner in a business. Call me a haispray, pallmall and cheap booze type man. I'll gladly take it over your cheap suit and Ax body spray to cover the stinch of your "I'm better then you" daily routine. Febreeze is great....it used to cover up the smell of your nasty feet after you leave your plush office. And I am not sure....but I am betting a non-degree holder sprayed it for you.

I spent part of my college career at Alabama. Back then the enrollment was around 14,000 while UT was around 26,000 and Auburn around 26,000.

By chance are they now including community college numbers in their enrollment? I did look up the enrollment online and 29,000 surprises me. Most Universities don't double enrollment like that without something else going on. UK for instance has a dozen or so community colleges scattered around the state. Their enrollment includes those. When I was there UAB + UA might have equaled around 29,000.

No, I do not believe that is the case. Except for Vanderbilt, are all big ass state universities. Also, there is no way UK's enrollment of 26,000 includes the communities, particularly since the CCs were rolled into the community and technical school system and out from under the UK banner about 12 years ago.

You are mistaken about the enrollments and about the major distinctions in academic quality offered by these state institutions and about the disparity in the quality of education offered by them.

UAB, BTW, has an enrollment of about 17k by itself.

That's one of the great things about fandom. Your inclusion as a fan brings with it no ability to exclude. So no matter how just or how stupid the criteria you would set may be, your opinion doesn't matter.

Unfortunately true.

But non-degree holders will always be on the outside looking in....

The outside of what? Your degree gives you status as an alumnus, not a fan. Believe it or not, my fan membership entitles me to the same privileges you have. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that my support of the University garners me more.

exactly. I'm on the outside looking in at many organizations of which I want no part. Acting like it's tantamount to donning the Green Jacket mystifies me.

So you only support the football program not the university? Thank you for proving my point. I rest my case.

your logic doesn't make any sense at all, certainly not what I'd expect of a college graduate. Guess you'll be on the outside looking in at those whose diplomas actually represent having learned something.

Resting your case is probably the best approach here, as all your doing is denigrating the very degree you seem to hold in such high regard.

you didn't qualify your silliness with multiple degrees, but denigrating even more them is worse.

That said, doubling down must make you the best Vol fan you know. You and band boy are impressive, to say the least.
