Sidewalk alumni necks

What is a former alumni and current alumni? Either way you are not a true fan without a diploma.

So let me get this right. The millions of dollars the University gets from the sale of seats and pay-per-view come directly from the alumni (that gets ticket discounts).
I don't see non-fans dishing out $100 to $600 to sit at a game and watch a team that their not true fans of.

im a current student and i love UT because my dad did. He went to MTSU but still loved the Vols. There is nothing wrong with being a fan at a different school. Some people dont have the means to attend UT or UT doesnt offer their major etc.

I know more and love UT athletics, especially football, than all of my friends that went to UT and I'm an MTSU student

My family has gone from hometown/homestate UT fans to alumni through the generations like most blue collar families. We all have that big love for the Vols, though.

If I am lucky enough I hope someday to have sons that will put on the pads for UT
& knock out a gator or bammer for his pops lol

haha I went to Carson Newman. Eagles football is pretty entertaining, but I didn't see many games during my years there if you know what I mean. You could find me either in Neyland or in front of the TV.

Until you have sat in the student section as a student of UT you will always be on the outside looking in.....thus the sidewalk fan.

You can be a fan without a diploma...just to a lesser degree. UT is a school not a professional sporting franchise.

To say fans with and without diplomas are the same disregards the effort it takes to be an actual student of the university.

Non diploma holders can change allegiance for the cost of a new ball cap at wal mart. Diploma holders for good or bad are forever linked to the university therefore have a vested interest in the success of the university.

a diploma just makes you a part of the Univ. Unless you earned that as part of the team then I'd have to say you're off on it making you a bigger football fan. Plenty of people have a diploma from UT and have no interest in the athletic side

Sidewalk fan here. Coldnt find it in me to "exert the effort it takes to attend the university."

After all this, I'm thinking about taking some on-line classes to raise my "fan" meter.

I think you should be able to convert your post count here into credits at UT toward a Philosophy major.

Congratulations on graduating from college. Instead of acting like an elitist, you should be thanking non-degree holding, tax payers and ticket-buyers. Those people who aren't "real fans", helped provide you with a place to attend school and football games.

Your season tickets must be in section..ASS

I need something clarified:

I am an alumni but not a graduate of UT. I will eventually, however, attain my MS from UT.... where do I fall in this equation?

I'll hang up and listen.

You're like a partial fan. You should be allowed into Neyland Stadium, but shouldn't be allowed to have a good seat. The OP clearly deserves an all access pass with the ability to call a few plays during the game.
