So a photo of him taking a snap in the backfield. Speculation has been that it's called the Tiny Dancer. How awesome would that be at the goal line. We haven't pulled something that crazy in a while, would be nice to pull it against UF and hurt big time with it.

How do you stop someone that big on a run play?

Criminy, THAT is short-yardage back.

Swarm tackle because he isn't fast enough to make it through the hole.

That's why its a gimmick and no one has 5.0 forty runners that weigh 295 at running back. It just doesn't consistently work.

Just the thought of that makes me smile inside and out... whether we do so or not, it is crazy loco!

I'm sure we will use it a few times in goalline situations. Probably a 1st and Goal/2nd and goal on the 1-2 yard line. Outside of that, I doubt he's in the backfield other than maybe an extra blocker for our RB's.

Ditka and the 85 Bears would disagree. It can work on a limited basis especially if you use him as a decoy.

That's part of an o line drill. He's just taking the snap to give the players a point to rush to. It was on one of the practice videos. He won't be in the backfield on goaline

Limited basis by definition means not consistently effective.

The 85 Bears Super Bowl run had absolutely nothing to do with Perry lining up for gimme touchdowns behind a great offense line. Perry never really powered over anyone with players hanging off him. He was an effective blocker that got a few easy TD's because Ditka loved him.

Perry had 8 carries for 5 yards and 2 TD's. In his entire career. He scored on a TD pass catch as well, when Green Bay blew coverage and let him wander into the end zone uncovered.

Name one run the Perry ever had on offense that Walter Payton could not have gotten at least the same result. There isn't one. As for decoy, when the Fridge scored it was because the offense keyed on Sweetness, not the reverse.

Big, slower guys scoring TD's excites fans against overmatched opponents. Its not a formula for putting points on the board you couldn't get another way.

I really hope the OP in this thread isn't serious. Not because I wouldn't like to see the formation a few times in goal line situations, but because of the reason behind the speculation. In the video they are doing an O line drill where the lineman (go figure) are trying to protect the QB...someone has to play the QB and since AR can't hit, it was him. I really hope this explanation was not needed.

Really don't think he'll ever line up as QB

IF he goes in on short yardage situations, it would be as a blocker. The difference of 300 pounds hitting a hole without ball carrying experience and a 260 pounder (Fugate) carrying the ball is not that much difference. Except the 260 pounder will hit the hole faster and have less risk of fumbling.

Taking snaps as in everyone else is blocking and hes running strait like a mack truck. Like the G-Gun, like the Wildcat, he's definitely not going to be throwing the ball. Just trying to add some excitement is all.
