Vols turning attention to early-season opponents this week

Pruitt already prepping for early opponents. This is a different approach I haven't seen this done on Rocky Top before. This will probably help us against Florida cause it seems like we are always unprepared as soon as the game starts then we start to get in rhythm later in the game. Pruitt understands how important Florida is on Rocky Top and I love it.

I love it he knows we gotta go through them to get to where we want. I think the Florida-Tennessee rivalry is about to hit another level with Pruitt being here.

I hope you guys are right. I am so sick of this idiotic wet the bed v UF to paint the picture of our entire season and conference ranking by week 2. Since Mose Phillips checked his watch in the downpour, we are literally 5-21!

Five wins and TwentyOne losses!

For 21 out of the past 26 seasons, we have popped our season balloon in 2 or 3 weeks after waiting allll off-season anticipating our year. It flat out sucks.

If Jeremy is the guy, then he MUST get this crap fixed. I honestly would be happy to lose to GSU, BYU, and my Mocs, if it brought us victory over UF. I'm seriously tired of looking at our season painted this way year after year and decade after decade.

OSU fixed Michigan owning them years ago. Nebraska fixed OU owning them from even before. This is rediculous. The time is now for Pruitt to lead us out of Egypt!

Well, I’ve been saying all along that Pruitt has been thinking about those six turnovers from last year and believe me, he hasn’t forgotten about them. I knew going into the off season, that he and this team couldn’t forget about Florida. Those that played last year knows what they have to do. In the back of their minds, those six turnovers have been haunting them on offense. Believe me, they have been working on Florida longer than this. I wish I could find every comment over the past year about those six turnovers I made a lot. I told you all along that he hasn’t forgotten.

Stop repeating yourself, man!
You said a whole lot of nothing...

Florida forced those turnovers and also had chunk plays.

Have to be physical with them. That's what Mizzou does.

I think him putting up the temp of Gainesville during practices was the first clue he is all about Florida

Had that same thought when he said it. I think he’s focused on turning that series around. He also mentioned going to Gainesville while talking to the students over the weekend.

I think there is to much hype, to much talk and players thinking to much about Florida. I’ve said before the vols went into Birmingham in 95 with a 8 game losing streak with a tie in 93. The entire week leading up to the game was different, there wasn’t much talk the players even Peyton said it’s just Alabama another game on the schedule. The team was relaxed, the fans there that night was relaxed but very confident. First play of the game a was a td pass. The drilling of bama that night began on the first play and they didnt let up.

Sometimes I think in this series there is to much hype. The players need to look at it as if it’s just another game. Practice study game film and be loose from start to end. Don’t repeat last year start.

he said after the scrimmage over the weekend they would be spending one day 3 times this week prepping for "early season opponents". i took it to mean GA St, BYU, Chattanooga, and possibly Florida. It makes sense to start getting familiar with Florida since that's by far the biggest game early on.

I would think the 3 early games we would focus on BYU, Florida, and either georgia or mississippi st. I would hope that a week of prep would be enough to handle whatever Georgia St or Chattanooga would throw at us. Heck we should be able to take care of those opponents on 3 days of prep.

UT lost 7 games, and Florida is the only one that seems to bother some of y’all.

I doubt that UF forces 6 turnovers again, but I also doubt Florida will need 6 turnovers to win the game.

Not to pour salt in the wound, but 3 of those 5 wins came against Zook and McElwain, the other two against Spurrier. UT is 2-21versus UF coaches who can fog a mirror: Spurrier, Meyer, Muschamp, Mullen.

No. No. No. You can't act like Muschamp was an incredible coach and that McElwain was awful just to inflate your point. McElwain was 22-12 for you all and won the SEC East outright twice. Muschamp was 28-21 and never even went to the SECCG. So don't say that Muschamp can "fog a mirror" just to make the stats look worse.

I have said before that they were more physical in than us in that game and it's something we have to fix and some idiot on here wanted to argue with me about it. 🙄

I’d personally take Zook over Muschamp or McElwain

Then state your purpose.

And congrats on the 8 whoopins Kiffin, Dooley and Butch received.

I would imagine they will spend a day on Georgia State, a day on Chattanooga, and the rest of the meeting time from now until Florida on BYU and Florida.
