I was feeling a bit nostalgic today so I whipped out the old Playstation 2 and decided I'd play NCAA Football '06. As I started dynasty mode as preseason no. 2 ranked Tennessee with hopes of having a much better season than we did in reality, I realized that these games that came out on the last generation consoles are just flat out better than the newer ones (haven't played '13 yet though). I bought '12 last year and I was incredible disappointed, it was a complete waste of 60 bucks! So anyways, as I was throttling UAB in the opener I noticed at how much better more depth there was in details such as the commentators (i.e. Lee Corso doing his pick for the game winner, etc). Albeit the graphics are horrible outdated but any true gamer knows that there are so much more to graphics. Also I loved how on the title screens the game played awesome background music and showed clips from actual college football games. To me, this just feels more like the real deal, maybe a lot of my reasons are intangibles but we all have our own opinions and mine is that these games were so much better.

Ah, yes! The last decent ncaa game. Back when EA cared more about making a good football game rather than mass appeal bull****! I stopped buying after this series. It was good too

Its strange that if all these old gen versions of games were so great, why do the new ones sell so well? Not disagreeing that 06 was probably one of the best AA games (with exception to 11 out of the box), but the graphical holdback makes those game unplayable to me now. Would be great if they could put 06 in a time machine and make it exactly how it was back then, just with upgraded graphics.

Would be awesome. I spent way too much time on 06. Wish I still had it.

Yes my point exactly. 06 was just flat out incredible plus UT had a "good" team that year

EA getting exclusive rights to the NFL and the slow but steady decline to the stinking pile of garbage that NCAA is now is no coincidence.

06 was the last time NCAA was any good. They've come out with seven versions since then. Think about that.

Nobody else will compete because it would probably take a minimum of 4-5 years to get in on a college game, getting a foot in the door with NFL is much easier because there's so much less graphic programming going on.

I said it when it happened, I'll say it now: EA getting exclusive rights to the NFL is the worst thing to happen to video games in the last decade.

With exception to 11 not being considered a great installment (out of the box before they tuned it to ****), I have not and do not dispute any of this

I haven't bought a Madden or NCAA game in almost 10 years.

The NFL2K series kicked Madden's tail and on top of that it was only $20 brand new.
