SIAP: How Jeremy Pruitt Is Selling Tennessee Football (Late Kick Cut)

I like that this media analyst is being branded a Vol fan for having a positive outlook on the direction of our program. I mean, he's clearly not...but it's nice to see some of our rivals' fans get the impression he is by what he's been saying.

I think he's a bright guy, so him being sold on our future after looking closely into it, that seems to be a great sign.

Would I think he's a bright guy if he wasn't spending so much time saying positive things about the team clad in orange? I'd like to think so. I mean, put aside the pro-Vols message and evaluate him in a generic way. Bright? seems so. Articulate? absolutely. Football 101 knowledge? definitely. Football masters degree level knowledge? hard to tell; haven't heard him talk about the sport enough yet. But he's ahead of most of us here on these boards, at the very minimum.

So his opinion is worth something, at least.

And he's saying our future is bright. Oh yeah, i'll drink to that.

Interesting that you say that because I also thought highly of him. I liked his knowledge and the way he delivers his message.
Not full of the way some sports commentators speak when they are trying to do their version of Chris Berman. I tend to find that annoying.

He would likely sound the same if he were a CEO announcing a company’s quarterly earnings report or doing a a speaker doing a TED talk.
I hope what he said comes to fruition.

He said it right. We are nothing outside of Knoxville. Until we beat one of the "big 4", it will just be more of the same ole. If we don't beat one of the big 4 this year, our recruiting will most likely take a tumble.

I think if we go 7-5, we have Butch Jones 2.0. If we can get 9-3, Pruitt is legit. The jury is still out and this could be the year we see what our near term future holds.

Flame away!

No flaming...you got it right. He'd only get somewhat a pass on 7-5 if there's some really close losses to the big 4 in there. I think everyone inside the walls that knows what we have, which hasn't necessarily showed up on the field in YEARS...big time OL and good returning nucleus w/ decent depth on D...but we're all still jaded from not seeing any jumping-out years of exponential improvement in our performance and record...haven't seen that Rick Barnes year 3 type year. I think the ingredients are there...just have to go do it.

Well Orangemadam, you asked for it . . . Here it comes . . .

CJP has forgotten more about football than Butch Jones will EVER know!! Just look at the development of players that Butch brought in that remained with CJP - D. Taylor and N. Warrior come to mind first and foremost, then add J. Jennings and M. Calloway to the conversation. These four players took major strides under two years of CJP and staff coaching. Then look back at all of the 4 and 5 star busts under Jones, they were NEVER developed in technique, strength and conditioning or game preparation schemes.

Lastly, Jones ran his damn mouth none stop telling every microphone he could find how good he and his staff was. CJP hates the microphone and PR, he would rather be working with this players and coaches - you know, about football!

Pruitt is a legitimate football coach, has the track record to prove it - see National Championship Rings . . . NOT champions of life certificates!

Now back to our regularly schedule programming.

I agree with what he was saying on late kick late kick last night about CJP. That he’s building this program to be different. As Saban and others get smaller on defense to handle the spread, he’s getting bigger on offense to counter.

All I'm saying is that it doesn't really matter about how many you put in NFL, technique improvement, etc. What matters is W-L.

Ga, Fla. and Ala. put 8-12 in NFL every year. They teach technique to all their players. Almost all of their players live up to their potential. Until we start winning, we don't know what we have with Pruitt. Comparing
Pruitt with Dooley is like comparing a 300 lb wife to a 400 lb wife and saying "see dear, you aren't fat at all".

All that really matters is W-L record.

I think we get Oklahoma, Florida, and Georgia this year.

No, I'm not drunk or high or a troll. I think we pick up where we left off last year.
I actually hope we do not pick up where we left off last year. While the defense played well, the offense did not in the Indiana game.
The recovery if the onside kick saved the day for UT.
I hope they play much better than they did in that last game.

We're only good, not great, just make the plays that you have good QB play from being in these type games. (I'm talking Andy Kelly or Casey Claussen good not Peyton 2.0) For the first time in a long time we can match up with anyone at the LOS on both sides of the ball...but you still have to have a QB who can throw a 12 yard deep crossing route and hit the receiver in stride consistently, add throw a fade with some touch and a screen up the field instead of behind the receiver and yeah we're in these type ball games to the end. Unfortunately, we have no QB on the current roster who has shown he can make any of these throws consistently.
