I wonder if that article is the results of leaks from the UNC athletic department to try and satiate fans' desires for them to go after a big ticket coach. They can say "We tried for Mark Few! We tried for Tony Bennent and Rick Barnes!" so that fans aren't as mad with Davis, even if it was likely Davis all along
