Schiano contract? Would like to know if we really believed this guy was the answer or just tried to go cheap.

I’ve only seen the reported $20 million buyout. So maybe 5 years 4 per? Or, 4 years 5 per? Butch made 4.5 per, so it seems cheep.

Greg Schiano Out at Tennessee, and the Twitter Mob That Destroyed Him Was 100% Wrong | Mediaite

The proof he knew was always pretty flimsy but It might not be too hard for Schiano to prove innocence who knows

One thing I do know you better believe he’s gonna fight to do that his reputation was just **** all over and he lost out on a pretty good job and big time money

Gonna be interesting that’s for sure

It's in his best interest to move on. Does he really want to drag this out? He's already guilty in the court of public opinion (in TN,) a lawsuit is only going to keep the Sandusky thing in the public eye and that's not really going to be a good thing for him or his family.

also, if he was interested in fighting for his reputation, he would have sued the original guy who mentioned his name in the affidavit. He didn't - and imo, that

1.) tells us a lot about the validity of the original claim (or)
2.) that he didn't feel the outcome of a civil trial to clear his name was worth the time/publicity that would come from the trial.

He realizes no more decent offers will come his way and he's cashing in now.

To John Zielger and Mediate
One jury found McQueary credible enough to send one person to jail on sexual abuse charges and another, entirely different jury, found McQueary credible enough to find Penn State guilty of defamation and award him $7.3 million. Why didn't you testify at either of those trials? I'm sure your credibility could've stopped this injustice.

Schiano might be innocent, but as a fan, I didn't want to have to start carrying water for him. A media backlash was coming for hiring him. We replaced that with a media backlash for backing out.
I'm happy I don't have to convince everyone who attacks us that he saw and heard nothing about Sandusky's actions during the six seasons he worked for Sandusky. I'm happy I don't have to call the whistleblower a liar or suggest he was mistaken when he quoted Bradley years later.

And, now our fans will be crapped on for revolting on someone who might be innocent.
The media needs to blame our leadership who never should have considered Schiano.

Exactly right! That neither Bradley or Schiano sued McQueary for slander after he accused them of enabling a child sexual predator is odd, if they were innocent. I would sue anyone who lied about me with false accusations like that. They must be very understanding, turn-the-other-cheek dudes! Or guilty...

Bingo. Kudos to Currie for finding the one no win situation out there and bringing it to Knoxville. Moron

Please stop linking to an article with information that is not factually correct. He was at the university when reported cases occurred. The sworn testimony did not say the two men were coaching at PSU at the same time. Actually it was clear that they were not.

The writer of this article either did absolutely no research or just made it up to fit the agenda.

No one but Schiano knows if he did or did not see anything. But he was there working during the time when the incidents occurred. Many are not comfortable with this looming out there.

The real issue is that whomever made the decision to pursue him as HC did not think about how folks in Tennessee would react.

Tennessee fans should never apologize for wanting an A list coach. The people who are telling us we shouldn't loudly demand top candidates are projecting a defeatist attitude that is hurting the program a lot worse than a short lived backlash from a few media pundits whose real issue is that the Vols fans reaction picked at and old scab at PSU and may have given Ohio State a black eye.

The guy that wrote that article believes Sandusky is innocent. All you need to know about his credibility...

His best move is to slink away and allow the mob to turn its focus on Currie. Guilt or innocence don't matter, several maintain Paterno's innocence and this absolutely destroyed his legacy. Schiano is a mediocre coaching hire with a .500 record with 44% of his career wins vs non power 5 OOC opponents, his conference record was pathetic within a pathetic conference that no longer exists. For some this was about the scandal, for others it was about the football, but for most it's that you don't risk the integrity of your program on someone with this on their record especially not for a mediocre football coach.
