SIAP Black Uniforms

How about killing some indians at halftime to celebrate Horseshoe Bend.

Rofl, you kill me with the random quips. A thread hasn't hit the prime time till the jtrain ran randomness right though it.

Orange n White....or White n Orange.

Period.

I think everyone should post their age when responding to this thread. It would seem to be the deciding factor. Older folks just don't like change. Just know that in a few years when they move on that the new generation will probably be the donars and it won't be as big a deal to have some variation or occational change.

I loved the black. Personally, I love what VT did this year with their uniforms (can't remember which game) where they had flat black helmets and cool uniforms. I think the variety is cool everyone once in a while. We need to stick to traditional colors, but why not spice it up once in a while like we did against SC on Halloween. That was awesome.

Is this another reason to not like Hamilton:unsure:

And I'm 43.

I liked the black and orange for Halloween weekend. I think that should be the only time we use them when we have a home game on Halloween weekend.

No, uniforms are Dooley's decision, and he has requested to remain traditional in the design.

the black rocked...just needed more of it, more thought out. btw is it my imagination or do we see quite a bit of basic black gear on the sidelines?...looks good huh? i'm 43 and i approved this message.

Technically, black is not even a "color". Am I right? The cheerleaders at the Alabama game on Saturday were in black. It seems pretty official.

I can't hardly ever remember a UT football team that did not have black on the jerseys or equipment in my entire life. Our jerseys RIGHT NOW have black trim and names on the white unis. They are the best looking ones ever IMO, with the orange pants.

Next time we do black, we need a coherent scheme tho. I know when Montario and Eric went to Hammy about black, it was the same week of the game when the decision was made to do it last minute. The scheme looked K-Mart, but the effect was great.

People and their anal obsessions with O&W only remind me of people I used to go to church with. Holding on to traditions (biblical or not) and shaming anyone who would dare challenge them, regardless of how damaging they may be to the greater purpose.

You know what I mean, the "a woman aint sposta wear paints in church" group etc. Fortunately, time moves on whether they refuse to or not.

AMEN!!! Brotha!

So I saw Illustrations of every UT uniform in chronological order and saw the first two were black and orange. It just made me wonder why so many feel that black uni's are not traditional when they were the first uni's we had.

With all due respect, because they're not

The black uniforms looked hideous last year, but noone can doubt that even in that cold rainy weather, those kids had more motivation than usual. To bring out those uniforms once a year (and have matching pants) to give a little extra spark and motivation to a group of young men isn't a bad idea.

Oh thank the lord for that!...If you guys want to root for teams in black and orange go root for Oregon State...They would appreciate the boost in fans I'm sure :good!:...Those black jerseys were hideous last year

Well for all the people that say "NO WAY" to the black uni's, well I hope you enjoy cheering for an uninspired, unmotivated team. I'm also willing to bet that a lack concern for what the players want to wear will have an effect on recruiting.
I didn't like those cheap looking uni's kiphin rolled out with either, but if we worked with adidas in advance I'm sure they could put together a nice looking, complete uniform. Plus its obviously something the players want so having those uni's to wear for one big home game a year could get them pumped up enough, in that game, to come away with a win noone thought we could.
I'm all for tradition, but these people that are refusing to acknowledge the black uni's as part of our history are completely ignoring our whole history and ALL of its traditions. If you think about it, if people were thinking the way these orange and white only people are thinking, we would've never had orange and white uniforms to begin with. They would've refused to change for the same reasons people are saying we should only wear orange and white and nothing else, because thats the way things are and nothing about it should ever change.

Good lord....if our players are uninspired because they can't wear black jerseys then we have some huge problems.

I mean wow...I don't see how in the world Flordia, LSU, Alabama, and Auburn all won the National Championship the last 5 seasons; they couldn't have been inspried since they didn't have black jerseys to wear!

Funny thread. I'll jump in. I have no problem with the black uniforms every couple of years. I was there and when they came out on Halloween night with the black jerseys and then stomped USCjr into the ground it was great.

I'm also a UT graduate and on the back side of 50, if enquiring minds want to know.

GBO !
