I just got the SEC 75 Years SI magazine, and it was terrible. I would not suggest buying it. The spelling was terrible, the facts were all messed up. For instance, the magazine said that we played in the Fiesta Bowl on January 4th 1998 for the national championship, thats wrong. Then it made me mad because they did a section of the greatest coaches, Bear was there, Spurrier was there, and for some ungodly reason they put Sylvester Croom in there? What the hell? He couldnt coach his way out of a paper bag. Where was the General?

I doubt they were thinking too much about wins and losses when they chose Croom.

yah, and then also they have danny wurfel as the all time SEC QB? who were writing these articles? There was a good article on Peyton and Archie however. They had one of the Arkansas coaches from like the 70s or so, maybe 60's but if my memory serves me correct, arkansas was still in the South Western Conference correct?

Winning an armload full of SEC titles along with a national championship and a Heisman will tend to make one legendary.

true GA, The magazine was terrible. Gramatically i think my sixth graders could have done a better job. And it still gets me that the only reason that croom is in there is because hes black. Theres not any mention of Neyland, Fulmer (when he was in his prime), Dooley, very dissapointing. I will stick with the swimsuit issue from now on, cause i really dont too much attention to the grammar haha

sounds like the magazine is garbage. but naming wuerfful the all time-sec qb is something i can see. gator hater or not, the guy was a huge asset for florida.

Can we add SI as a media outlet that hates us.

Maybe this explains why they were giving them away outside the Florida-LSU game. I haven't read it yet.

How the hell do you spell that guy's last name? :)

They could have picked Tee Martin using the Croom method.

I think Wuerfful was a "product of the system" under Spurrier. If roles were reversed with Peyton playing UF and Danny playing here than Peyton would have shattered Wuerfful td record. I also think Peyton would have set even more records than he did when he was here because of the fun-n-gun system. I also think UT would not have done as well as they did if Wuerfful was our QB. One last thing, with all things even (NFL), I think we know who is better.

Any QB with a decent arm can play well in Spurrier's offense. I know this because UF QBs in the last 10 years or so (Wuerrfel, Doug Johnson, Shane Matthews, Rex Grossman) have had excellent college years, yet somehow they stumbled horrifically in NFL offenses ( ok, Grossman's career hasn't been completely terrible, but I wouldn't even rank him in the top 24 of NFL QBs). Imagine if Peyton played in a Spurrier offense? He played in an least 50% run offense, but still put up big numbers. LONG LIVE PEYTON!

Doesn't matter where they played. Compile their stats, records and awards and take the names off. Then hand the list to someone who knows football and ask him to choose a QB. He will choose the guy who wins titles every time.

Simple minded Vol fan :nono:.......it is a 75 glimpse of the SEC not NFL potential. I would take 4 SECs and 1 NC in startin for 4 years to be the one. Although further back you had great ones in Billy Cannon, Archie Manning, Kenny Stabler, etc.
