8. Tennessee

Tennessee's CFP odds: 36.9%. Nico Iamaleava fully embraces the QB1 role, surrounded by top-flight skill threats and working behind an experienced line. But while the Vols' front seven expects to be solid, there are questions around lost production in the secondary.

Really? Almost everyone is unproven

No sir...we brought in PROVEN players...just from other teams. We lost guys that were ineffective. The guys that stayed...dudes like Ricky Gibson, Jourdan Thomas, Andre Turrentine...those were the younger guys making plays down the stretch. Then we added three starters from other teams (two top 10 ranked players at their positions) in Jakobe Thomas (S), Jermod McCoy (CB) and Jalen McMurray. We are undoubtedly more talented in the secondary.

We hope all that is true. Willie Martinez has a long history of being a subpar coach regardless of what players he has that goes back 20 years. I am firmly in the "believe it when I see it" category with Martinez and his charges.

Just beat 2 of Alabama Oklahoma Florida Georgia and don't choke any of the other games. We'll be in.
I think it depends on which 2. Lose to the lizards and that will be a killer. They will likely be a pretty average team so we simply cannot afford to lose that one. I think we beat Oklahoma so it should come down to bama and uga. I think both of those games are going to be closer than the fans want.

They aren't proven until they prove it in the SEC.

Nah...being a freshman all american CB in the pass happy PAC 12 equals proven.

This list shows we are third in the SEC in net gain of talent. Most of this was in the secondary

That's going to be the storyline all season. Tennessee should be a team that's right there in the mix, but there are always a lot of factors that play into it. Should be a fun ride.
I comes down to those first 4 games if we come out of that unscathed we are in good shape. But if we overlook NC state and Oklahoma those games could come out badly. Those are not teams to be overlooked. I think we can and should beat them but its not a given.

EVERY game is closer than I want. 😂

Where's the Group of 5 team in that scenario? Unless they're counting ND which is a Independent.

Wait! We had production in the secondary?

They’re not. In this case Michigan and Clemson would be on the outside looking in and OU would be the final at large team in at the 11 seed . They would play @Notre Dame or Penn State while Texas would host the G5 team. That 5-12 game is the ticket . Assuming Texas beats Liberty or whoever, they would play either Kansas or Kansas State.

I can go along with this statement...

We'll know pretty quickly. Everything comes down to the Oklahoma game. We win that on the road, and look out for a special year. Lose, and it is business as usual 8-4.

Missouri? Really? They were really good last year, but I don't see them being strong enough to put together 2 really good seasons in a row.

Questions in the secondary is always the go to concern with pundits. The last two years I've had concerns about the defensive secondary. This year I do not.
Same bad coaches… sane bad scheme… same bad results…

Mizzou is a far bigger threat than Florida. Luther Burden would have ranked right behind Nabers and MHII had he been eligible for the draft this year. He's a stud. And Cook is a solid as they come for college QBs.
