In an ESPN article Geno ripped folks for saying everyone was up in arms because his women were threatening a men's record.

no way you can compare the two. It's not that people are mad. Folks would have to give a damn to be the least bit upset.

which is why he's right and everyone is up and arms about it.

if people did not try to hype it up like it is a big deal, no one would be upset.

but, since people are hyping it up like it's a big deal, there's a general disdain from a lot of people.

The ones hyping it and acknowledging it are fans of the sport. calling out people who don't give a damn is pointless.

ESPN seems to be the one hyping this for the most as the woman passing the UCLA men.

It pisses me off because it's so stupid.

He also said in an ESPN interview that if his team was unbeaten this time next December he wouldn't come back because he would have lost all respect for all the coaches in women's basketball...He is a very arrogant S.O.B

Given the magnitude of the accomplishment maybe the pimps over at ESPN should just go ahead and name one of their studios after him. They are the ones giving credibility to his ramblings.

Everyone realizes UCONN is like in the studios back yard right?

They pretty much have to cover a story so close to home... otherwise this would get a one time "Guess what? The UCONN women have the longest streak ever, cool" treatment and wouldn't have been built up more than one commercial break, let alone years.

What's wrong with that comment? Why should Geno hang around if the rest of the country can't provide any competition?

Especially when hammering that competition doesn't get him the praise he feels he deserves.

As far as the comments he made about the streak, of course people don't want to see it end. Wooden died this year and some people are probably affected by that. The rest probably don't want to see a women's team mentioned with what the men accomplished. Most of those people probably don't realize Wooden cheated, but whatever. UCONN will get some attention for a while, lose, get some more attention then, and people will stop caring soon enough.
