Oy...these kinds of posts are what I'm talking about.
No, booing does not equate to a passionate fan. It equates to a fan that wants to vent his frustration. Period. Again, you guys are coming up with absolutely ridiculous rationalizations. No, booing doesn't make you "passionate". No, booing doesn't mean you're helping the team in any way. All it means is that you were frustrated and you're venting to make yourself feel better.
Again, I understand that many of you are going to boo to vent. But for the love of God, please stop with all of this ridiculous rationalizations of it as though there is some grand or noble ulterior motive to it.
When the team starts playing badly, people would rather vent / boo to make themselves feel better about spending hundreds to see a loss than to practice any kind of discipline, so oh well. That's life, and that's how it's going to be at pretty much any SEC school.
It is interesting to note that so many of you think CPF is a general idiot, yet are gleeful when an idiot agrees with you. Wouldn't you prefer that he not be on your side?
Best post of this long thread.
Again, I won't be as tactful as Airgibson in addressing this issue. To me, if you are sitting in the stadium and boo your own team, you are a loser. Period. You are the same type of low-life redneck that goes to the HS football games on Friday night and screams at the ref the entire game.
Even if some of them "deserve" it, certainly not all of them do. As AirGibson pointed out very nicely, booing is a selfish act that only helps you.
So just understand this, losers. You boo, you're just hurting the team. So go ahead, knock yourself out.
