Showing respect for players

It's true. But I doubt the players take it that way, which is unfortunate.

How true that is.

We lost a very good DT who went pro early after the 2002 season and he was very upset that fans booed during the 2002 Florida game, he said something like; "they're your friend one day and stab you in the back the next, I don't like being around people like that."

Not only that, players love their coaches and when fans boo the coaches the players take that personally.

I'm sure the players are hurting enough emotionally right now without any abuse from those Monday morning QBs who couldn't coach an eight hundred pound gorilla out of a hefty bag themselves anyway.

You say coaching an eight hundred pound gorilla....I say coaching a team into the endzone from the 5 yard line.

To-MAY-to To-MOTT-to

There is really no use. We've got folks in here that believe they are actually helping the program by booing. They act like it's a 1st amendment issue, and are really sensitive about it.

It's really pathetic if you think about it.

What's pathetic is someone that joined the board this month that feels like they can dictate whether or not some fans can boo the coaches or the players or whatever. Crompton already said they didn't care, they played for each other as a family. This whole thread is irrelevant and grown men have stooped to insulting each other like 3rd graders. My God, grow up people. You know you can respectfully disagree with someone and not stoop to badgering and insulting them. We ought to try that sometime.

I suspect that if 5150 was on the Titanic, he would have fussed at his fellow passengers for voicing their displeasure with the Captain.

Pot, meet kettle.

Let me change the wording of your post slightly:

How is that pot meeting kettle? I don't recall insulting anyone.

Your words:

"You know you can respectfully disagree with the calls on the field and not stoop to badgering and insulting them."

Seems like a double standard.

Ok man...if that was an insult, I apologize...I'm not going to do this anymore. You get a rise out of people arguing with you.

Regardless of what was said in the press conference, booing the players is insulting. Sorry you don't see it that way. I guess, if you were out there, it would be viewed as "constructive criticism".

I'm not arguing......I am simply stating the obvious. The booing makes you look bad, makes our fan base look bad, makes the entire university look bad.

This just in:::::::::::

Some Vol fans have requested that Halloween not be celebrated this year lest the UT football team gets its feelings hurt. Too much boooooing, even on Halloween, is not a good thing.

And what is your opinion of the piss poor product from the offices to the field, from Hamilton to the towel boy?

Fail

I hope you have a green card to be on this blog site since you're not a Tenn. fan!

I'm not booing just the players, I'm booing the whole damn program that is obviously below 3rd class now. I don't care why these players are playing college level football, and I don't care that some of them may be 'poor' and may have come from families who could only afford bread and water once a day. This blogger is trying to guilt trip us into feeling guilty for expressing our disfavor for a losing team, and is definitely a neocommie Democrat who will vote for Big Ears come Nov. 4! If a program sucks like ours does right now we have only two ways of showing it. One is to boo and the other is to stop supporting the program. I favor both ways.

Don't try to argue with him. He has made it obvious. The problem with this team is not coaching, players, play calling, athletic offices, etc. We are losing because we (the fan) are booing. It is our fault.

Because two wrongs make a right? Is that seriously your rationalization?

Up next, Business declares it is now acceptable to pick fights with 70 year old opposing fans because, hey, our team "looks bad", therefore it's okay for the fans to look bad too!

Just when you thought the rationalistic wonders could go no further...

We had Florida right where we wanted them before the boos started
