Actually, I view the "18-22" year olds thing (and ive had discussions with my friends on this before) that these guys are still young (i.e. "just kids") and they're not professionals and are not at the point where they should be treated like them. They will make mistakes because they're still young and you have to deal with that as a fan of this sport. If you want flawless polished football, you watch the pros b/c they are professionals with the skills and esperience for that. But they're still kids (i'm in college)
it's kinda like my friends who are pre-meds. They can't be thrown in as doctor b/c they're not experienced or polished enough; that takes more time and experience than they'll get just in 3-4 yrs school. They'll eventually get there but they're not at that point yet, so they'll still make mistakes from time to time, which is why they arent (and shouldnt be) expected to be perfect professionals at this point (and in this example, they're not thrown out there thinking they should be perfect yet)
