Showing respect for players

The notion that they are "booing the coaches" is a complete cop-out. When people boo after a Crompton interception, they are booing the fact we had a bad play. Period. That includes the coaches and the players.

I have never been too keen on anyone booing their home team. As much as we need new coaches, we desperately need some new fans as well. This ranks up there with "hoping for a loss so that we get a new coach".

Florida sure delivered that today in a 30-6 drubbing at home. No need for hoping.

You know what with the replies that I have seen thus far you guys deserve everything you have coming to you, so enjoy the bottom of the basement because it can only get worse from here. Stay classy and keep booing it shows all those recruits coming to the game how great tennessee fans are to play for, and remeber that while everyone is choking back tears when the T opens up and all that other crap. These guys are playing for themselves, the university, and the so called great state of Tennessee. You guys are a joke.

Well since you're referencing my post....I just want you to know that I don't care what you think. I know how I feel and I don't feel bad about it. I don't boo players. If you think we're a joke you can leave and not come back. But you wont, because you like to argue. You'll stay here and argue pointlessly on this board because you have nothing better to do. So let's get it started....go ahead and insult me.

I rarely boo but when a player at what is supposed to be a major program plays like garbage he should expect to hear it.

For all of you folks booing in the stands, I hope you enjoy another mediocre recruiting class. Thanks to you, the good athletes will find a better place, a place where the folks in the stands recognize they're doing their best.

Nobody worth a :censored:would subject themselves to this crap. Maybe we'll get a few four stars this year.

Yep, those same "arm chair coaches" that sit in the stands booing will be the same ones whinning come signing day '09.

I think you're wrong and right there AirGibson... the INT was right at half time and the booing was while everyone was going into the locker room... there was going to be boos either way if it was a TD, FG, or just an incomplete pass. The majority of the boos weren't till after Tebow kneeled the ball and they ran towards the locker rooms.

But I do agree that it's pretty tough to just be booing the coaches - overall its just the team.. which I wouldn't do - but I'm not going to get upset over people doing it unless fans start cussing out individual players and hoping they die like a few drunks around me were doing.

Booing a football team isn't anywhere near as bad as dissing the President and nobody seems to take offense to that.

Guys I am not a Tenn. fan and have been on here a few times just to lurk The reason I am posting is it is crazy to go out and boo college kids is flat out uncalled for, now whether you were at the game or watching on the television, these kids signed up to go to a program to play football and get an education. They are not getting paid millions of dollars and shrugging off losses. Have some respect for these players win or loose they deserve to be treated better than that, some of these guys are using the only way possible to obtain a college degree, so back off with the booing and relax. I want my team to win as bad as the next guy, but at the end of the day it is just a football game. You will win some and lose some, but life brings tougher times than loosing a football game.

how you doing tonight Mr. Overstreet?

Maybe they will take it as a challenge to prove everyone wrong. Also, unless we have people decommit which is possible, then we will have a pretty good recruiting class. It's a Top 15 class so far.

You come to the SEC, want the media exposure, want the lime light, you want a weighted eye by the NFL, you want all that, by god, you're going to get a boo. Coaches, players, it doesn't make a damn which one, the product is becoming a national punchline. Just be glad some fans still give a damn enough to show they actually care.

You literally just equated booing a home college football team's players to criticizing the US President. Wow. Words fail.

and it's our right as season ticket holders to boo the football team when they suck

Ok, just don't get drunk single out players and wish death or injury upon them. If they suck and continue to play - I blame the coaches for not recruiting/developing well enough or replacing them with someone else on the team.

I was afraid a few idiots would cheer if Crompton were to be knocked out of the game. Now that would be way over the line.
