If you appreciate what she has accomplished at UT and respect what she has done please post a comment. If you don't simply don't post or start your own thread.Point being this board seems to send mixed messages about her and I find that hard to believe she doesn't have a solid following. My fellow UT fans,95% of them, like her and support her.

...and why would anyone NOT support her? There are people up here in UK B-ball heaven that wear the orange simply because of UT Lady Vols B-ball! Thank you, Coach Summitt.

She's a legend...the greatest women's coach ever. Some posters on this board may not like women's basketball, but I don't think any of them would diminish her accomplishments. She's unparalleled in her sport.

I think she is a great coach. However, she is extremely overpaid. Considering that the annual ticket revenue for the women's basketball program is only $1.5M ($4.8M for the men and $18M for football), only $1.45M is brought in by the LadyVol booster club, and only $3M combined (all sports) from marketing, advertising, and sponsorship, I would have to say that an annual salary of $1.45M is extremely high (especially considering that the entire Athletic Department sees only a $3M profit per year.)

From a strictly numbers standpoint, I can see your point. There just isn't the mass support for female sports versus male sports. I do have to wonder, though, what kind of price tag can be put on the intangibles she brings to the university in nationwide publicly, etc?

Take Pat Summitt out of the picture, and that 1.5M in women's basketball revenue will plummet to about 40 bucks...Pat Summitt is probably the most recognizable face in women's athletics...her salary is in a league of its own because she is in a league of her own.

Well, obviously the Athletic Department has put that price tag at $1.45M. However, from a purely numbers stand point, while I do believe that CPS has accomplished far more in her sport than CPF has in his sport, CPF is earning about 10% of the ticket revenue his team generates, CPS is earning over 90%.

Again, I do not want anybody to take this as a knock to CPS's coaching ability. She is easily the best women's coach in the history of the game and she probably falls somewhere in the Top 25 in the Pantheon of Great Coaches (any and every sport).

In this results oriented world, she's gotta be the greatest. I don't think she's paid enough. Just be thankful she's here and not at Fla. or Alabama.

She has my respect. I cannot, however, support her. Let some of the other girls in the SEC win a few.

We are talking about a competitive sport, right? I thought for a second the thread changed to discussing the edicate of T-ball.

Oh wait...it's a Bammer. nm.....................
