there is an article on another site calling for the Vols to commit more to Coach Gran. He currently has a 2 year contract at $185,000 a year. He is responsible for Nuke and 4 of our current commits. He has also secured OV's from Joyner and Luc (no small feat). He is a class act all the way and I think you will see his impact on special teams this year as well as the with the running backs.

What say you?

We haven't played a game yet so I would say that is kind of jumping the gun a little. But Gran has been great so far in recruiting and his resume speaks for its self as far as his coaching ablilty goes. I hope we can hold on to him for awhile but honestly I think if Tubbs gets the Miami job Gran is good as gone.

I just pray Miami has a big year!!!

Mo'money, mo' money, mo' money........if these kids turn out to be studs this year, I think he'll get a pay bump.

I would agree and really like coach Gran. I am also very interested to see what happens to this staff as a whole next off-season if they have moderate to above average success this year.

Let's see what the market offers before jumping the gun. Remember when Mikey overpaid Phil for no good reason? I'm not drawing a comparison between the two coaches, I'm just saying...

I saw it earlier I agree...I think he has done a great job with recruiting and he should do really well with our RB and Special Teams. I hope we keep him around a long time..."SHOW HIM THE MONEY"..

Good friends of mine from Auburn told me when Gran came that he has been Auburn's best recruiter, best coach, and classiest guy since he has been there. From everything I've seen and heard since his arrival in Knoxville, I believe they were dead on. A definite keeper.

If our running game and special teams improve like I think they will, I'm sure Kiffin will appropriately reward Gran. There would be no reason not to given the early success he's enjoyed on the recruiting trail so far.

First of all....EVERY coach in the staff was known to have a high degree of recruiting prowess (except CMK), so doing what they were hired to do deserves a giant raise as soon as they start doing it? He'll get a bump more than likely, but it will probably occur at the end of the season.

i personally think they better hold on to gran as long as they can. He is recruiting a crucial area for us and has done extremely well for us so far. losing him would hurt our rebuilding efforts. he is arguably our best recruiter and we cant expect to keep Big Ed for to long he has expressed interest in head coaching again at some point. i say lock him down

I bet their contracts have plenty of bonuses for winning. No way MH will have any problem handing those out

I don't see any salary changes till the contract is close to being up. Maybe an increase from 185,000 to 220,000.

We need to keep him. He's one of the most valuable guys on the staff, and our star recruiter on a staff of dynomite recruiters. And, he's a great man and role model for the players.

I said the day he joined the staff, he was the best position coach period when you take everything into account. Glad to see you guys coming around even if it is late.

I don't think coaches should be compensated based on how many official visits they produce.

Can we get back to football please

He has signed more out of fla since he has been there than CPF has the past 3-5 yrs. I say keep him that way of CEO does get another head coaching job then with his ability we can make him the recruiting coordinator plus he is not only a good recruiter but a good coach and a class act and will represent us very well..

I'd be fine with him making up to twice what he is making now. He is the biggest asset behind Monte and Coach O and it is debatable if he is even behind them.
