With talented quarterback(s) coming in next year, Tyler Bray, should Stevens stay for his last year as a back-up? or transfer hoping to do better at another lessor venue?

I'm sure they'll give him a chance to compete. Technically, the job is his right now. He's the back-up now, right? Crompton is graduating. So....

I would expect him to transfer if Simms comes to UT. Not hard feelings if he does, really don't blame him.

He is a junior.. wouldn't he have to sit out a year if he transfer to a school worth a damn?

Stevens might start, you never know. He's ahead of Lamaison, and who knows where Bray will be. If we get another recruit or offer Simms, maybe so, but until then he's got a shot.

He won't leave at this point. Nick knows what Lane has done with Jon. He'd be a fool to leave now Bray isn't ready for D1 as a freshman. He needs about 20 pounds.

They are talking about Nick Stephens, our backup Quarterback, started a couple of games last year, not Will Stevens...

You lose a year of elgibility when you transfer, since he's a junior he would lose his senior season. It would have to be to Div 2.

Fail.

Let's conjecture on who we get, how we'll improve, etc. not on half empty scenarios. According to all reports he has been a great teammate and true Volunteer while supporting and helping JC and the coaches and other players. I am sure if he get beaten out next year he will more than likely do the same. Good guy I think this Stephens fellow. I would say his chances are at least 50-50 to start right now. Move along -- nothing to see here.

I'd much rather stay and enjoy my last year with a program like Tennessee. Just stay and learn more from the coaches (in case he ever wants to be a coach) and get a degree from a good school.
He might also have a little fun as a Vol next year.
If he's got any confidence at all, he should stay and just do whatever it takes to win that job. If he's not up to it, he's a coward, and I don't want to waste the scholarship on him.

Stephens, or Stevens will not transfer. He will have a shot at being the starter.

Remember, most people wrote off JC after last year. He made his mind up, that he wanted to compete, and accept his coaching. IF, IF NS decides to follow JC's work ethic, CLK/CDR/CJC will make a good QB out of him. He will have an advantage that JC did not have, by having a yr. under his belt in the system.
