just saw on yahoo that Boise State wants to take on a major opponent. They aren't even asking for a home and home series, they'd just come here. They usually have a good team, sometimes great. But there is always the question about the conference they play in. I'd be all for it. What do you guys think?

we would gain nothing by playing them.

Boise has proven in recent years that they can play with anyone and they are fun to watch to boot! I would love a home and home.

Tennessee, unlike UGA and Florida and usually Alabama, has never been afraid to play better teams from out of the region.

Yes we should. There as good as any team in the country and they deserve a shot at the National Title. It's teams like Boise State and Utah that make the BCS System totally retarded. Utah lst year should have had the chance to play the best teams in the country in a playoff.

Playing Boise State would be fantastic IMHO. As good as playing anyone in the top 10 now.

Nope. Not with the current situation. If we win, we should have. If we lose we were out coached. Kinda like the AL bowl game last year.

UF, AL, USC and most of the best teams play powder puff out of conference schedules and are not punished for it. Basically college football does not allow for any throw away games. Until a playoff system is implemented I would steer clear of any of those Boise type of teams. If there was a playoff system I'd like to see a random computer pick of out of conference games for all college teams eligible for the championship.

i dunno if we should, but i'd rather see that game than another ohio game.

We should totally schedule them or TCU for a future series; we usually have at least one OOC big game, why not make it Boise? Anyone who says that a loss to them is something to be ashamed of is simply not paying attention to college football... Which I suppose could include many of the dunderheaded sportswriters with AP Poll votes and ink to spill.

I'd love to see a home and home in September. A trip to Boise in late summer is some dang fine fishing!

This is kind of pie in the sky, as our big OOC games are scheduled for the next decade with home and homes against Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, tOSU, and Cincinnati.

If you are talking about giving up one of our two walkthrough games, I don't think that it would happen, because we could not afford it in terms of lost gate and merch revenue or in terms of having a survivable schedule.
Of course, if we have a playoff, all this goes squarely on its ear.

We should have the mindset of "anyone, anytime, anyplace...BRING IT!"

I have to agree. We want to take on all, anytime anyplace to show that we are the team to beat! I do not like playing the nobodies in football and if BS wants a game I think they have proved they need to play tougher teams to be considered for the BCS.
GO BIG ORANGE!!!:dance2:

If we won, we would gain nothing really even if BSU went undefeated the rest of the way. If we lost, it would most likely hurt our chances for a BCS bowl if we are as good as what I predict we will be that year.

Schedule anyone out of conference except UCLA. We can't seem to beat them even though we always have the better team.

The College Football market and the Media would love the game. It would be a great game to watch. BUT:

As a UT Fan - the downside from losing is much greateer than the upside from winning. I would prefer we take our chances on a team that gave us something better than bragging rights against the WAC.

in 2011 we already have a game against cincinatti so i think it would be stupid on our part, but you cant really blame them for wanting to get in a nc game, they have to make there out of conference schedule stronger and no one will accept

if we are going to play a team that could potentially beat us or come close to beating us, there better be something in it for us since the win wont mean much, i.e. playing like fresno state out in Cali or maybe TCU. that way we would at least have exposure in talent-rich recruiting areas.

I say "play 'em. Just think of it this way. Do we want to be the team that gets knocked out of a NC game because a team like Boise State is undefeated and we have one loss? It is gonna happen before all this BCS (Big Crock of Sh!t) nonsense is done with. If we beat them and they have one loss, they are no longer in any NC discussion. I agree with the anyone, anytime, anyplace mindset. Would I regret saying this the week of the game? Probably. But honestly, after watching last nights game, I would love to be playing them in a week or two. I say we could beat 'em.

BTW, I say absolutely not to a home and home with BSU. Can you imagine our orange against that backdrop? Arggh!!!

again, we have a tough schedule in 11 anyway, why would we. if we could put boise in our schedule it would look like this, GA, LSU,@Bama,USCjr,BSU,@Ark all with no bye weeks

Also, you guys say we would gain nothing by winning. Aren't they ranked #5 right now? That would certainly look good. Beating an undefeated top 5 team still carries a little weight.

if we win, we beat a 1-loss wac team, if we lose, we lost to a wac team.

We are continuously trying to schedule tougher OOC opponents. We got series w/ Oregon and USC and OSU in our future for gods sake dont we? I say let the pansy ass scared Tigers/Bammers/Gators follow our scheduling and take them on we obviously aren't scared of scheduling tough OOC teams.

Your mindset is about 15 years out of date.

They're good, regardless of conference.

At worst, they are overrated because of a weak schedule, talk about a fatted calf for your SOS. If we lose to said calf, it is our own fault.

I just don't see the logic in poopooing them as a WAC team on one hand and being afraid they will beat us on the other.

Plus, how good would UT look if we were the first SEC team to go out there and we win? Even if we lose, it strikes a blow against the BCS. I don't see the negatives here as a problem. We could conceivably lose to them and still win the conference and play for the NC.
