For our next head coach?

What should our requirements be?

I don't think we should pull a coach from a non powerhouse conference. That's where Dooley came from . That's where Butch came from.

I don't think we should gamble on an up and coming coach in a powerhouse either. (campbell, riley, etc..) Or someone who's been OC/DC.

Seriously though... do we actually have options?

Simple...

Hire a proven HC that's won at a high level.

Stop settling for up & comers hoping they'll work out long term.

Currie & the boosters desperately have to make a splash hire. There's no in between.

Hope someone that doesn't run this stupid style of offence. Bring back the I-formation and pound the rock. We have the players to do it.

Didn't Saban come from Toledo, which is a non powerhouse conference when he was hired by Michigan State?

Didn't Urban Crier come from Akron, when he left for Utah? Isn't Akron a non powerhouse conference?

Wasn't Gus Mazhan coaching at Arkansas State before he was hired at "The Barn"?

Are you going to say this in every thread. We do not have the players to run the I formation and we run the same offense that 80% of all college teams run. There are just slight variations.

No flat top crew cut hair cuts, no cliches, no garbage cans, and no players falling on helmets. But that's just me.

Utah had been a 6-8 win team. He comes in and goes 10-2 then 12-0. And we are off to the races. It was Utah’s 2nd 10 win season ever followed by the 12 win season.

Requirements?

Nah, just throw every applicant’s name in a hat and get a super model to draw one.

New Coach should be either Jon Gruden or Chip Kelly.

If it isn't one of those two then the administration has FAILED big time.

Are we Utah or Michigan State? Have we not tried to go down that route a couple times now? How did it workout? Why would we continue making decisions with the same philosophy when they have not just failed, but failed miserably.

Is their a mid major coach that has a 39-6 record and BCS bowl win under his belt? If so let's take him

Until Saban is gone, no good coach is going to come to the SEC. They all understand they cant compete. Name the last great coach to come to the SEC since Saban arrived? Franklin bolted to the Big 10. Meyer retired, then ran to the Big 10. Florida cant hire a good coach, LSU cant, we cant. Georgia decided to get the next best thing and stole his DC.

Its a crappy reality, but we just need to accept that until he is gone, all other SEC teams will be down because coaches will continue to go elsewhere where it is easier to win their conference.

OP, are you seriously asking if Tennessee should have certain requirements for hiring a head coach?

That where Urban Myer and Chris Peterson came from too.
The difference, they were exceptional at smaller conference schools, Dooley and Jones average.
Somebody's next great head coach willl come from a small time program , but if you hire an 8-4 average record you can't expect 12-0 inbthe sec.
