PM could run for Congress like Heath Shuler did. I think he would win running for a seat representing Tennessee

So if Peyton retires and we have another season of Bajakians vanilla offense, what's the over/under on threads started about Peyton becoming the OC?

If ask if he is finished, I will say yes. At his age, his body won't continue to spring back from the abuse the game does to it.
If asked if he should retire, I will say... that's not my call.

While, I agree with A&M that Favre mishandled his retirement, I don't think Peyton will go that far. And while some point that his arm strength isn't what it used to be, and I do agree with that to an extent, he hit more downfield vertical passes the past two seasons than some of his latter seasons with the Colts, so relative to other league QB's, I think his arm strength is not really an issue. He hit on more downfield passes with quite excellent accuracy recently until...about a month ago...when he tore his quad.

I think he is and should come back next year. He wants and needs another ring. With the right hire, and a couple moves, Denver is close. And we have to ask this question? How many teams in the league with the current personnel they have, would give their left nut for a QB of his caliber? When you can say that, they maybe it's not time to retire. Not like he's throwing 50/50% TD/INT like Favre was at the end.

Yes, I think he is only playing now to get to 700 touchdown passes, Denver will lose a lot of its players, so they will take a step down, if he could go to a Super Contenting team like Arizona, but they got Carson under contract, he could go there and have a real shot at the Super Bowl with there defense he might put them over the top, with one more ring he might go down as the best every, the way it is now he wont and with Tom Brady having a real good shot at his 4th, he would be ranked behind old Tom and that's not good.:banghead2:but anyway you look at it he is the best Regular season QB of all time, and top 5 all time if he walked out the door today.:pepper:

Too sad to think about football without Peyton Manning! Wish he could play forever but when he does retire, I hope he becomes the UT Athletic Director

He should play. I graduated with him in 1997 and I will officially be old when he retires.

I'd like to see him play one more season to get the all-time passing yards. He is only 2000 yards behind Favre for that last record. That will put in first in all the major categories for QB's. Of course if he can't play anymore records don't matter I would want him to be in good health.

Peyton will be successful in whatever endeavor he chooses. However, he won't ever coach in college (sorry to burst some bubbles). He has his eye on being in a position like Elway as a GM/Team President in the NFL. I could see him possible accepting an AD position at TN, but not coaching.

On the money

He should finish out his contract, huge dollars, and then retire. He can still take a team to the playoffs and that is the most valuable commodity in the NFL. Don't expect any more super bowls but he can beat most teams just calling plays against the defense alignment.

At first, I thought he absolutely should retire, because he looked nothing like the real Peyton Manning the second half of the season. But, I now have a different viewpoint after the severity of his leg injury was disclosed.

Here is the pertinent question, and only he, coaches and doctors can answer it. Was the decline in performance because of the leg injury (which will heal over the offseason) or other factors that cannot be fixed (age, etc.)? He was lights out early this season, and if getting the leg healed can get him back to that, he should still play if his heart is still in it.

Peyton is a smart guy. He will retire when he decides it is time. My opinion, or anyone else's opinion will not change that. Though I will admit I have been concerned every time he has taken a hit in a Broncos uniform, I respect his desire to continue playing.

That article is just plain dumb. I saw the play he hurt it on. It was a play where he came down awkwardly and tore it. It wasn't a repetitive situation where it just gave out on a routine handoff or something like that.

Thanks for your insight, doctor.

I think he should. I don't want to see him get hurt in a way that he will never recover from. He's already won a Superbowl, so he's gone to the top.

Assuming he's healthy enough to play and can deal with a new staff, it would be cool to see him have a farewell year. It would give fans another chance to see him play, and would also give him an opportunity to get a successor ready.

Thanks for your insight, doctor.

As if the idiot who wrote that BS is a doctor, either. And, if he is, he has no business making a diagnosis of a person he has never examined. Quack, quack, quack.

He set the TD record 2 years ago. And he had a good season last year , 12-4 regular season with a 1st round bye. He played hurt the last month and anyone can see that it hurt his performance. But I think the dude still has it. He's like Michael Jordan was during the end of his career...couldn't jump as high, couldn't run as fast, and couldn't dominate like he could in his younger years. But old Jordan was still smart and new the game and probably better than 90% of the league. I hated seeing Jordan go and I'll hate to see Peyton leave. My selfishness wants him to stay.

I think he comes back. His production up to the Rams game was amazing and just as good as any season in the NFL. And then his performance fell off of a cliff.

The only thing I could see causing that big of a drop in productivity is an injury. It was suspected by Broncos fans for some time. His accuracy and strength just plummeted. This torn quad in his right leg all but confirms what was suspected for some time, and he should be able to rehab that, provided there aren't other lagging injuries.

If Manning wants to play, I think his best move is restructuring his deal to get less money and keep the present team together. The Broncos will keep him onboard for another year. Osweiller has not been that impressive.
