Interesting opinion I'm hearing on the Basilio show online basically saying that if you think there is sufficient reason not to have dismissed JJ yet and since he is on scholarship to play football that he ought to be played. There's already been a punishment of missing the OM game so why not go ahead and use the guy's talents to, hopefully, put a beatdown on the Dores.

I voted Yes, fwiw.

We don't need Jackson to beat Vandy, and he has been suspended from all team activities since the incident, so he hasn't practiced or worked out with the team or anything.

Even IF he had no idea what was going on and was jus a case of wrong place wrong time he still needs to sit out the year jmho. We all know in our heads/hearts when we hung w/ the wrong crowd growing up guys, thankfully my parents squashed that out of my life when i was in a wrong click. He needs to sit out Vandy and possibly the season to let it sink in that he is only as good as whom he hangs out with. It was a felony.......a one game suspension.....uhh doesn't sit right with me, even if he is acquitted of all wrong doing. Just the fact he was walking a thin line in the first place with what happened with his other suspension shoulda put the sense in his head not to be out @ 2am with a Pahokee kid. Well one would think that at least. I hope he remains on the team and makes a better name for himself in the future. We can handle Vandy without him. GO VOLS!

Kiffin needs to get JJ's attention. If suspending him for the rest of the year (plus Bowl game) won't do it he's beyond hope. Letting him play again at all this year sends the wrong message.

Given the timing of his involvement with this (albeit hopefully peripheral) right after his suspension for the Memphis State game, I am a proponent for sitting him the rest of the year and hopefully bringing him back next year.

When we will these threads go away. JJ want play until the bowl game if he's lucky. No more JJ playing threads.

He needs to sit the rest of this season + bowl game at least. Depending on what is confirmed about his level of involvement, he should be off the team.

I voted no... I am usually a pretty forgiving guy and I realize JJ has the potential to be that guy who thought his friends were being idiots and got them to leave. However, it sounds to me like the kid has been smoking pot and getting into trouble already, or at least there was speculation. That speculation was reinforced by the pot being found in the prius. JJ was heading down the wrong direction and needs to sit the rest of the season as punishment for that alone. Im not against pot, but I am against scholarship athletes forgetting their opportunity. I had to pay for my Tennessee education -out of state I might add- and it was not easy. UNDERSTAND THE OPPORTUNITY. Just dont be a stupid thug, be a professional. Im all for keeping JJ for the long haul, but we need to let him know this wont be tolerated, even if he was not one of the ones charged.

I agree completely. But I'm pretty sure they know his level of involvement considering there were no charges filed against him and he was released without bail. That doesn't make him "innocent" but I'm not sure what else they could punish him for.

I don't care what is confirmed or how much he wasn't involved. JJ should not play this year no matter what.

Yes. He should sit out the rest of the year to make sure the message is across: clean your act up or get out.

On top of that, it's insane to play him at all until charges have officially been dropped no matter what anyone tells you. It would be a PR disaster.

Look, 'just being there' and riding away with robbers is a crime. If it was a real gun, or just some nobodies involved, JJ would be looking at jail. He is in football limbo, while Kiffin determines how he can keep JJ while maintaining this 'disciplinarian' role he's molded for himself, in contrast to Urban's wild west show. I say JJ next year, after some high profile community service.

I agree with the previous posts. JJ's season should be over. I think JJ is a great talent and has an opportunity to have a great future, however, he needs to mature and realize that football is a privilage.

Another JJ thread - I think we need one analyzing what JJ's involvement in the crime really was, cause i don't think we have one of those yet.

To answer the question, JJ should not play until the Bowl game. And CLK should come out and announce it as soon as possible so JJ threads don't take over VN!

someone asked if the arrests would affect recruiting and Kiffin said something along the lines of "we've been on the phone with parents since the ordeal and they're seeing how we're handling it. We didn't suspend them for a half, or a game.. we removed them from the team".

It might send a mixed message.

The overwhelming weight of posted opinions seems to be against letting him play again this year, if not forever. If that's the case, then why even keep him on the team? Obviously, they think his talents are such that it is worth taking a P.R. hit to keep him around. That being the case, why not play him? What if, God forbid, Vandy squeeks out a close one without JJ in the game?

Maybe a better question would be, would you rather play JJ and go 8-5 with a Peach Bowl victory, or go 5-7 without JJ? I realize that there are other options, but it was painfully obvious that the defense was not the same without JJ on the field.

What if new evidence comes out and the charges are brought back up, what about being out past curfew? And you continued to play him? I think Kiffin is doing about the best thing he can at this time. Suspend him until the situation is resolved, then lay out the punishment.

Our record should have nothing to do with it. I sincerely hope CLK is trying to be fair to JJ by waiting to see what his involvement in this whole questionable situation is/was before making a decision on his future as a person. I do want JJ back, but not if he knowingly had anything to do with this idiocy.
