Should have just kept Schiano......

Though many of these folks are worthy of consideration, I'm wondering if new search group is actually more capable of smoke screen...hope so. Less info coming out, so more conjecture, but Currie wasn't capable of smoke screen...would love to play poker w/ him.

I do trust Fulmer, and am excited he's directing things vs Currie, but, Currie apparently did temporarily deliver two coaches (which UTAD turned down) in Leach and Brohm, both of which most of us would take over some of these worthy, but seemingly average choices.

He didnt say he wanted Schiano! He was alluding to the fact that a head coach with experience might be better than any high risk coordinator. Why must tennessee settle for coordinator.

Pretty much. But it’s a message board so I’m not losing sleep over it.

The Schiano bashing has about run its course. He could have been a very solid coach for Tennessee if allowed the chance. Compare his resume to the previous 4 Vol coaches (even Phil at the time he was hired) and Greg Schiano comes out way ahead.

No way. You see what happened to him in the media based on the speculation of hi knowledge of the events at PSU ? Imagine what competing staffs would have done on the recruiting trail which this publicly available info. We would be fielding a team of walk-ons and mid major caliber players . It won't matter if he can X and O or not , he would lose games in the recruits living rooms. Because of this ...he is worse than the worst candidate.

And have to contend with the negative recruiting and constant whispers about what happened at Penn State?

I can hear opposing coaches and boosters and fans now: "Sure, go to Tennessee. Just don't take your eyes off your little brother when the family comes to visit!"

No thanks.

IF he was the this great coach, why was UT the only team that pursued him. with all these other vacancies, how he hasn't been scooped up?

Not saying we should've hired Schiano, but the same thing can be said about Pruitt, Tucker, Steele or any other candidate that is still available.

Why are the names Gruden or Schiano allowed to be posted anywhere on VolNation. Both should be persona non grata.

This thread title drives me bonkers - there is no world or parallel universe where Schiano was the right choice. Period.

Vol fans may be begging for Schiano before this shat storm circus is over, don't laugh, it's definately not funny:furious3:

My wife hates sports & doesn't watch any. Her family is tight with the Dooleys yet she could give a damn. Keep that in mind...as I told her about the UT search/Schiano deal she basically said as follows...the fbi investigator didn't even interview direct reports. If they hire anyone that was remotely involved they are idiots and my kids won't be anywhere near that.

If these are our 4 choices. At least he had HC experience. Wow

He'll NO. The very media that talks about us for not hiring him would immediately turn around and dog us out for hiring him with his past issue. Public relations nightmare especially if he did not win here. Then it would all be amplified
