Should Butch issue statement?

Butch has already issued a statement, and repeated it on numerous occasions. It goes "Tennessee is my dream job, and I want to be here until I retire". Is the OP suggesting this was just "coach speak"?

I live in Blacksburg. I work for virginia tech. Butchs name is not being mentioned up here on local sports radio. Everyone. Calm. Down.

Oh m goodness. You too? Everyone is calm. No one has posted a freak out about him leaving. Some of y'all like to make this stuff up to make the fanbase look nuts. Just about everyone knows there is nothing to this. It's a dude with a twitter account

The top coaching vacancies in my opinion.........

1. Southern California (One of the top jobs in the country.)
2. Miami (because of the recruiting territory)
3. South Carolina (Spurrier elevated this job.)
4. Georgia (If Richt is fired)
5. Virginia Tech (Behind Miami in job relevance)

Thoughts?

Jeez Louise, do we really have to go through this every time there is a job open??:no:

As if a whole bunch of folks want the guy who was third on our list. He's barely at .500 at this point. Look at Michigan. That's what a good coach can do in a single season. When Butch makes it to that level then perhaps the "will he leave for another job" question can seriously be asked.

Georgia would be #2. Great recruiting base. Nice place to live.

Georgia is waaaaay better than South Carolina and better than Miami. Georgia and USC top jobs. 1. USC 2. Georgia 3. Miami 4. Va Tech 5. USCjr. (VT isn't as grueling of a division or league as USC and not locked into a non conference rivalry like Clemson like USJjr is) Playing in SEC at a lower tier program like USCjr and playing Clemson each year wouldn't be attractive to me.

Eh it's hearsay. He shut down the Michigan rumors very quickly and he had a hundred more reasons to go to Michigan than Virginia Tech. I believe that he honestly is in it for the long haul with Tennessee barring him being extremely successful next season and a NFL team comes calling.

This board cracks me up sometimes because after a rough outing it's all "Fire Butch" but when his name comes up in another coaching search it suddenly turns into "hands off our coach!"

You realize it's mostly different people, right? Each group is obviously more vocal at different times.

I love Butch Jones and i really like the life he has given this Tennessee football program but, if he wants to go somewhere else i'l be the first to tell em not to let the door hit him where the good Lord split him. I dont think Butch is goin anywhere i believe he has built up to to many relations now. He loves Tennessee and Tennessee loves him

Everyone is overlooking the real threat here: North Texas. On Snapchat, their AD said that he was looking forward to seeing his team play against Tennessee. Looking forward to it so that he can see his new head coach in action? Everyone knows that Texas is fertile recruiting grounds. Also, if TV has taught me anything, it is that everyone in Texas has lots of oil money to buy their suits and cowboy hats, so they have plenty of money to pay the buyout. Plus i think North Texas has a guy on the team who is from Michigan.
Pretty sure i saw in the AOL chat room that the ink was already dry on the paperwork for Jones to pull a halftime switch and go coach the Mean Green.

I really think UGA is better than all of these. Prime recruiting territory plus one of the best historical SEC teams.

I agree, I might even say they and SC would be about even. The Georgia job is a great job. California is a better recruiting state, but Georgia is an SEC job and also full of great recruits. I guess it would depend on which coach you ask, Which job would you guys take if offered?:question:I think I would go with USCw, I don't think I could get over my natural ingrained hatred of Georgia:finger3:

With all of the media outlets putting Jones in Virginia Tech's top 5-10 coaching lists and with the majority of their fanbase believing they will lure Butch away from Tennessee, should he come out and issue a statement?

Should Hart offer more money now? Would he go? Will he at a minimum at least listen to his dear friend, the AD at Tech?

What are your thoughts?

Here's my thoughts. Schitzenfahrten. Krapenstencheitz. Que sera sera.
