He deserve no more money. No more years. No more of our concern.

Either he stays or he leaves.

Performance based contracts need to replace these hope and potential deals. No coach should be compensated millions every year for average results and be given huge buyouts for failing. Pay them for championships... stop paying them fortunes for average results or worse on the field.

Would Butch be on the hot seat if he losses to Florida, Alabama, and Texas a&m and misses out on the sec championship game?

It depends on how we lose the games. I doubt he gets on the hot seat with a 9-3 but I don't know how he will field a team more talented or with as much game experience than the one we will have in 2016. He needs to at minimum split with Florida and Bama. I think we will just have to see what kind of team A&M has next year but if we are going to win an SEC title and Butch is the guy we will need to win that game.

If Butch wants to keep playing the gimme a raise and more job security game before proving winning on the field, then call his bluff this time and hire Chip Kelly when the Eagles fire him. Then Kelly walks into a cupboard stocked with his kind of players (kind of). Not sure Kelly would ever recruit a 240 lb. RB...

He could get better players at Tennessee than he got at Oregon.

Blount weighed about that much at Oregon.

I like Butch.... But if he'd rather be at that piss hole of a program than at Tennessee..... Hit the road inbred jack
Yep. I'd take Fuente (Memphis), the Houston HC or even Deno Babers (Bowling Green HC, who came from Baylor before that) in a heartbeat and not miss Butch one bit.

All three have white hot offenses with a LOT less talent than we have.

I find it laughable that people assume he would leave Tennessee for Virginia Tech. My goodness people. They'll have to empty the checkbook to land someone. Having grown up in Southwest Virginia, Blacksburg isn't a prime destination. Especially during the winter. It's brutal.

No. Hart should NOT offer Butch more money.

If Butch wants to go somewhere else....he should go.

We are Tennessee. We were Tennessee before Butch and will be Tennessee after Butch.

Butch has not proven himself to be worth more than he is currently making.

If...and that's a BIG if....he get's to 9 this year....give him a small raise since it would be the first time we have won 9 or more since Phil was here.

8 wins DOES NOT get you a raise at Tennessee.

If he would rather go to VT....I'm sure we could get a crew of folks together to help him pack.

8 wins would be the first time since Fulmer was here as well.

Brilliance yet again. MSU should have fired both Saban and Dantonio...
Every situation is different and should be viewed as such. A one size fits all approach is almost always a stupid idea.
Anyone with the ability to think at a level slightly higher than a blade of grass can see this program is on a trajectory straight up.

To consider giving a coach a raise with an overall below average record (at UT), currently sitting at 4-4, with 2 "signature wins" in 3 years is ludicrous. Thank you E$PN for the current "drama-queen-rumor-mill".

As much as I hold disdain for ESPN, this is on a fool with a twitter account. Well and we bite on any and all comments LOL. But unless we finish 9-4 he will get no raise or extension. A 9-4 in our situation would get any coach a raise/extension. This idiotic rumor has zero impact on anyone or anything except us on football forums.

A lot of y'all are talking like he already has left. Why should he issue a statement? Do you go in daily, and issue a statement to your company that you will stay with the company?

Why should you expect any different of him? He always preaches to take the season one game at a time. Should he now, not focus on South Carolina, and start addressing every coaching vacancy?

Stop adding drama where there is none!

Go Vols!

With all of the media outlets putting Jones in Virginia Tech's top 5-10 coaching lists and with the majority of their fanbase believing they will lure Butch away from Tennessee, should he come out and issue a statement?

Should Hart offer more money now? Would he go? Will he at a minimum at least listen to his dear friend, the AD at Tech?

What are your thoughts?

I do tnot remember all of the love after the Arkanas game
