Should Butch issue statement?

We've seen a lot of different "gifts" that Dooley left the program, from which VolNation is still recovering. This particular "gift" is from Kiffin: fear of coach abandonment.

I think Butch is where he wants to be, also keep his contract long and a high buy out. That shows stability, helps with recruits. No other statement is needed for now, he addressed it in to days press conference.

Go Vols!

No fear here. Don't want him to leave but if he did, this is a rare circumstance. A team that is built and ready. Someone else did the work and a new guy gets to cash in. UT would be in much better position than in previous times of coach searching. If Jones even thought about leaving, he is insane. He's not

Some of our fan base are senile to say the least. Butch knows he has a gold mine here as long as he keeps winning.

The next head coach at Virginia Tech will be one of the three:

1. Rich Rodriguez
2. Chad Morris
3. Gene Chizik (Dark Horse)

Butch Jones is Bruce Pearl without the wins. He'll use any open job to swindle his way into a raise, even if said job has zero interest in him (e.g., Michigan last year). Just like Bruce did with Indiana, Arizona, and Memphis.

If they get Rich Rod, we lose in Bristol.

I could see 1 and 2 for sure.

You left out perhaps the best possibility

Bud Foster

You mean one guy with a twitter account?

One guy with a twitter account who constantly throws stuff against a wall to see what sticks then when something happens he tweets "heard this was happening"? That guy. That one guy simply made a link that the AD and Butch worked together and people are treating this like something real. Good grief.

If Bud Foster were getting the job, why would they not have announced it? Seems like it would be better to do it that way. I don't think he is in play.

Perhaps you are correct. We will see how in depth the search before we know for sure

With all of the media outlets putting Jones in Virginia Tech's top 5-10 coaching lists and with the majority of their fanbase believing they will lure Butch away from Tennessee, should he come out and issue a statement?

Should Hart offer more money now? Would he go? Will he at a minimum at least listen to his dear friend, the AD at Tech?

What are your thoughts?

I haven't heard or seen anything linking Jones name with Va Tech or any other program. Not saying it isn't true but I would find it puzzling if so.

Personally, I don't see Jones being on anyones short list or even a long list. He simply hasn't shown it on the field yet. I'm not sure if Jones is our answer or not but I think he is going to have to prove his worth before being considered for any other major job. Also, according to his own words, this, UT, is his "dream job". Do I believe that his statement is true? Hell no, Jones has zero ties to Tennessee or the SEC, that was just some more coach speak. However, If he ever thinks about leaving his "dream job" voluntarily then I say help him pack and show him the door. I personally would rather keep Jones at least through next year and hope he reevaluates his coaching staff and make the necessary changes.

Only reason Bud isn't a HC right now is because he has been promised the job after Beamer retires

If they pull that rug from under him that will be lousy, but that's business.

Lol, a job comes open at a lesser school and there's already "don't let the door hit ya" posts.

I have heard there are other reasons he hasn't taken/gotten HC job. I just think that if a longtime asst coach is getting the HC job, you announce it right then. When, in any head coach in waiting scenario, has it not instantly been announced? Just seems like an odd way to go. If Foster has been promised job and its a go, you get it right right away
