Should be ashamed

My friend, who is a life long Vol fan, went to the game with his wife who is an OM grad. Said she was pelted with debris, had her hair pulled, called c***, etc. He was ready to fight but said he would have been in a fight with dozens of people in his section who were all doing it. Decided to get his wife out of there for her safety. At this point he has given up his fandom. What the hell is wrong with some people.
I’m in Hoover Ala for baseball. My wife snd I graduated from UT and have a freshman at Ole Miss who came in for the game. She and a friend were treated like complete **** by Vol fans snd ultimately left.

Yeah, I mean, if someone was doing that to your wife, I’d hope you would side with the fans.

That’s literally not the same thing. “Giving up your fandom” isn’t the same as “siding with fans”. Are you being intentionally obtuse or are you just dumb?

Pssst. They were throwing stuff a Ole Miss for playing like bitches and faking injuries every 3 seconds and the refs. Can't deny they didn't deserve it.
Bruh Ole Miss did the same thing when they got hosed against Bama in a game a decade or so back. You see people been mention that ****? No. 🙄

It’s Ole Miss. they aren’t Tennessee nor do they have the tradition we have. The fact that you’re defending the people throwing stuff shows a lot about you are as a person. It’s a game, at the end of the day. Go to bed.

Football helped pay my way through college, my band scholarship relied on it.

Football pays for part of my job now. I'm a college band director and having my band at games helps feed my family.

I know how important football has been for me, I can only imagine how important it is for the ones relying on it to attend University at all.

But in the end, it is just a game. It's supposed to be a fun diversion. And it's supposed to be about the kids on field. This reversion to primal instinct over intelligence took the focus off of their efforts.

We're better than this. And if we're not, we need to seriously reconsider our culture and community.

Tell this to inept administration that has done nothing but shat on the fans and program the past 14yrs. Purposefully working to tear it down because they didn't like it. Those actions were eventually going to result in pushback. Schiano and tonight has happened, and more will continue to happen if past actions continue forward. You don't get 102k people and a big fan base like TN to collect money on and then get to dump on the program and purposefully not try to be successful.

Unfortunately, footage of the game's end will be shown over and over on ESPN and other sports channels. Viewers will see Tennessee's poor sportsmanship as a bunch of liquored-up hillbillies, reinforcing many sterotypes..

The game wasn't lost on that play that fell inches short, but rather on the 200 yards Corral amassed by running over, around and through our D Line. Any time they needed a 1st down, no problem! Fool me once, shame on you. BUT fool me 30 times? The shame falls squarely on the defense!

The review of that last play was shown from many angles, and there was no definitive proof to reverse that call. The announcers even said that had the receiver reached the ball out, it might have been a first down, but instead, he cradled it in his gut, and he just fell short. That's it. We had plenty of chances. To behave the way many fans did reminded me of another poor sport demanding recounts repeatedly- childish and boorish! Not a good look for the program.

Yep. But some of these guys on here will deny it happened or justify it with whataboutism and tell you how every fan base does it. I do believe these fans are in the minority, but they do exist and a minority can dictate who you are if they are not checked.

Does that make acting like a heathen ok? Because I’m thinking not. I, as a grown man have a family to take care of and you know what? If I’m putting money into something that isn’t giving me back what I want and isnt positive for my family and myself, I walk away. I don’t throw a tantrum like a 2 year old child and try and justify myself. The fact you’re defending the behavior of these folks is embarrassing and you might want to reevaluate some things.

Hint: quit spending money if you can’t handle the results

Sorry, but it just means more and Ole Piss deserved every single golf ball and water bottle on that field for their piss ant fake Injuries.

Lane took it in stride. He understands the passion.

He won the day with his bs tactics.

If only a golf ball knocked his visor off his head.

I'm not defending anything or saying that it was right. It wasn't. I wouldn't do it. I am saying that if you treat people like garbage like TN has their fans the past 14yrs then you're going to get people to lash out. That happened tonight as it did during the Schiano ordeal.

Regarding your "hint", I did stop spending money on TN. My family has owned tickets since 1971 and I attended almost every single home game starting in 1998 through about 4yrs ago because I made the exact decision you mentioned. TN was no longer worthy of my money. Now, when the they call, both the academic and athletic side, I decline in giving a donation to my alma mater. So I wasn't at the stadium throwing stuff, like you mentioned I chose to not give them my money. But you continue on with your your self righteousness.

Yep - I'd say I was more sad than ashamed at what happened.

I love the Coach JH has this team competing and not quitting but we had our chances. Just sad to see some fans do this and see people defend it.

Bull$hit. It's not the alcohol, it's classless self-absorbed emotional toddlers. Our fan base is filled with them.
The guy sitting in front of me was a drunken buffoon. Z11. Every time we punted or called a fair catch he called us “pus****”. Tried to start a “f joe Biden” chant. Stumbled a few times and eventually fell into a girl in front of him, knocking her down onto the bleacher in front of her. He stumbled out of the game after that but could’ve really hurt someone

We should be ashamed. Reacting like this over a game is unconscionable. I’m sure we have probably claimed a reputation as one of the worst, if not the worst fanbases in the country. This isn’t going away for a long time. I also don’t see this helping with recruiting either. The whole thing is a massive embarrassment to our university.
I look at it like this…. Who gives a damn? We all have our opinion of who’s fans are the worst, but none of them are losing sleep over it….I wouldn’t have thrown anything had I been there, but I certainly wouldn’t have tried to stop someone else or ratted them out.

Look, the refs were awful, I’ll give you that. We could’ve played a better game in all areas - but there’s absolutely no reason as a fan (and being a grown man) to throw stuff on the field. These kids are representing the team you all know and love and by throwing stuff at them what are you proving? Makes you look like a clown - so don’t defend that type of behavior.

A lot of good to take away from this game. We will keep getting better.

Go VOLS, beat bama

How many threads are we gonna have over this?
