Look, the refs were awful, I’ll give you that. We could’ve played a better game in all areas - but there’s absolutely no reason as a fan (and being a grown man) to throw stuff on the field. These kids are representing the team you all know and love and by throwing stuff at them what are you proving? Makes you look like a clown - so don’t defend that type of behavior.

A lot of good to take away from this game. We will keep getting better.

Go VOLS, beat bama

A lot of good was taken away by the idiotic actions from the stands! The mob mentality took over. I get it. You hate Lane? I get it. The refs suck? I get it. Sick of losing? I definitely get it. The recruits coming up? They don’t view this behavior as an incentive. The players on the field? Their hard work is and real progress is now overshadowed by the Neanderthals trashing the home field! It’s infuriating!

My friend, who is a life long Vol fan, went to the game with his wife who is an OM grad. Said she was pelted with debris, had her hair pulled, called c***, etc. He was ready to fight but said he would have been in a fight with dozens of people in his section who were all doing it. Decided to get his wife out of there for her safety. At this point he has given up his fandom. What the hell is wrong with some people.

We should be ashamed. Reacting like this over a game is unconscionable. I’m sure we have probably claimed a reputation as one of the worst, if not the worst fanbases in the country. This isn’t going away for a long time. I also don’t see this helping with recruiting either. The whole thing is a massive embarrassment to our university.

If he's given up his fandom then he's not a fan. Sounds like a pansy.

I've had two people say the same to me tonight. People I've gone with to games for twenty years, but they don't know if they want to be a part of a program that puts on displays like we saw tonight. What can I say? There's nothing I can say. Just another page in the book of apparently eternal misery called being a Tennessee fan.

They were throwing things on the court when we won there in 2019 on the charge call with a few seconds left.

Lol it's a little more than just a game around these parts my friend.

Football helped pay my way through college, my band scholarship relied on it.

Football pays for part of my job now. I'm a college band director and having my band at games helps feed my family.

I know how important football has been for me, I can only imagine how important it is for the ones relying on it to attend University at all.

But in the end, it is just a game. It's supposed to be a fun diversion. And it's supposed to be about the kids on field. This reversion to primal instinct over intelligence took the focus off of their efforts.

We're better than this. And if we're not, we need to seriously reconsider our culture and community.
