Tech can control the clock with their style offense. If tech can tack on another td before half. Georgia is in trouble
Theyre definitely in trouble.

But...as I said...still a long way to go.

Tech has to keep UGA from scoring here before half.

And they have to keep moving the ball in the second half. No turnovers.

Just wondering what other Vol fans thoughts were on this subject? Personally I think a team that finishes first or second in the conference should not be punished for a loss in a conference title game. I post this likely knowing Bama will be one of the two teams in the conference title game.
Since we aren't playing in the game, I say absolutely. Punish the heck outta the title game loser.

Leave it to the NCAA to make it where teams don’t want to play for the conference championship if they’re in the playoffs 😆. Need to go back to divisions.

I think sec is different from other conferences. I wouldn’t punish Texas or UGA after a rematch… a top 10 matchup. But I would punish a weaker conference.

This playoff may eventually cause the conference championship games to go the way of the pterodactyl

If Georgia loses, they would be out if not the the SECCG giving them a 2nd opportunity. The committee wouldn't penalize a team that would otherwise be in. Georgia would be out but they might get the auto bid.

The fact that a 12 team playoff is idiotic should be obvious when you start taking a whole day to worry about which 3 loss teams are going to get in.

I knew this playoff format would suck, but it's so much worse than I even imagined.

I hate it especially when a talent rich program can be lazy and suck 3/4 of the year but show up in the 4th Q then sneak into the playoffs and decide to turn it on and win it all.

Then don’t watch the games; any of them.

The only way to show how idiotic it is is for them to see a significant drop off in the number of people watching (and in turn for the games to make less ad-and-broadcast-revenue-based money).

I put "no" but I say it depends. Let's say Texas wins out and then gets beat 49-0 or something insane, with their weak SOS and no top 25 wins (well I guess they would have A&M in that instance), I say leave them out.

Same with Penn State in the B1G.

However, teams that have a solid resume shouldn't be punished.

I also say if teams hold up well, even the teams I cited, then they should NOT be punished. Losing a close one should count for nothing.
Let's say auburn blasts bama this weekend. Bama drops from the top 25 . Our resume would be void of a top 25 win also, wouldn't it?

Truth be told only Georgia has more than 1 of those (currently 3) .

It is accomplishing exactly what they wanted it to. More people talking about it (like you). A LOT MORE interest in the rankings/who’s in/out(even Indiana fans are paying attention to other games), and rivalry games that are even more important. Heck, we have some fans that want to storm the field if we beat VANDY!!!
Most important is a nice revenue boost for a lot of teams. Yes, chaos can be very good and brings excitement.
I stopped watching bowl games a few years ago and players started skipping out but this brings a lot more interest to the post season.

This x1000. They have fans who never cared this late in the year before watching games that would have never been watched.

Even if those teams.get their drawers blown off in round 1, they are gonna be watched by even casual fans of non-play off teams. I watched SMU and BC a few weeks ago, simply for this reason.

I voted yes. But by punished, I only mean in terms of seeding. They should be knocked down. But I do have a hard time with the notion that a team would be knocked completely out of the playoff by virtue of making the conference title game. So my answer is yes, in terms of seeding, but no in terms of making the field.

Won't lie. Kinda wish we were capable of that.

We lost the SEC Title game 3 times and each time got pummeled in the polls and dropped out of big bowls in favor of teams that didn't get to the title game. If it's not us, drop them.

Voted NO but dropping down the list in line with week 1 thru week last is not punishing anyone. Risk/reward is what it is. Should the winner be rewarded with a top 4 and a bye if not demonstrating a top 4 season? It is a loss just probably not a bad loss and should count.

Yes. If not the best team in conference, it's impossible to be the best in the country. I hate alabama, so they should definitely be punished for anything
