Should A Foster blame D Clawson

He wouldnt be the only guy that evaluated VY incorrectly. If you base your whole argument on his miss of VY, they you can pretty much write off every GM every to work in the NFL because they have picked a bust from time to time.

He continued to pimp he well into his career. I moved away from there last year, so have not heard him lately. But he was still in love with him as of pre-2008 season.

Unless I missed something Arian Foster went from a 2nd round pick last year to going undrafted this year. Is this a direct byproduct of the "clawfense"? I know everyone is going to spout off about fumbles and what not, but this guy went from guaranteed money to jack s**t by coming back to play for us. Very sad in my opinion.

Well Foster was a 2nd round pick in the same sense that - before combine and pro days - UK's Andre Woodson was a 1st round pick...and then ended up a what, 6th rounder come draft day?

This stuff always happens between the season's end and the draft. With a good season, foster still probably would have fallen...probably down to like a 5-6 rounder though due to some stats and a good team record possibly working with him. But he would have fallen from that lofty 2nd rounder

Same way people were calling Ainge a 1st rounder had he left in 2006 once the season ended, but I bet he would have still fallen to around where he did in that case.

But as an undrafted free agent. That unfortunately means he could be let go of before the pre-season's over as well

Any drafted player could be let go before the pre-season is over as well. Happens a lot with the 6 and 7th round guys.

I could go into how he didnt pimp him out last year but this thread isnt about that.

My thoughts.

1) Once again, the abomination that was last year's offense falls on Adkins and not on Clawson
2) The pathetic play of the offensive line had everything to do with Adkins and nothing to do with Clawson (I emphasize "nothing")
3) How a guy speaks has nothing to do with how intelligent he is, as anyone who's ever listened to me can verify
4) Foster wasn't drafted for a number of reasons, none of which are "Dave Clawson"

Yeah, but he wasnt giving his opinion on Foster, was just reporting the facts.

It is easy to bash John on the VY issue but the Titans are the ones that drafted him as the first QB and I am sure they know more about football than any of us.

This was true until I logged in for the first time in over a month. Now it's true of everyone on this board except me.:p

Ramon Foster doesn't agree with 1&2..

I hope that Foster does well in the pros. However, Foster can only blame Foster. No one dropped those balls but him. Hopefully he can turn it on in the pros.

You assume the following:
1) That the reason for the pathetic offensive line play was flipping sides (which it wasn't), and
2) Adkins was teaching brilliant technique that was undone by Clawson (he wasn't)

I remember having a post at some point back in 2006 or 2007 ranting about the pathetic technique that was being taught by Adkins. Clawson was still in 1-AA at the time. The common theme with every Adkins line was poor technique, no drive, and a slew of needless penalties (normally holding as a result of defenders just flying past linemen).

If last year's coaching staff had someone like Ron Prince coaching the line, we'd have seen 320+ points rather than 208 or whatever it was.

Since the Head Coach was a former lineman as a player, the blame should fall on him for having this idiot on the coaching staff in the first place.

Writer 32 for the defense, your Honor.....

This is the one part of Fulmer's tenure that I will never be able to wrap my mind around or comprehend. Adkins was a complete bonehead who could turn gold into coal in the blink of an eye.

It reminds me of something that the great baseball writer Bill James once said about one of the Indians' various inept GMs (either Gabe Paul or Phil Seghi). I don't have the quote in front of me and Google can't help me find it, but it was something about how someone should react if said GM were in various other positions. For example:
-- If the GM oversaw a hospital, it would be a good idea to invest in a morgue
-- If the GM were the captain of a ship, it would be a good idea to befriend a shark

That's about what I thought of Adkins.
