Shoop's Speaks About His Early Impressions of the Defense

The part about Cortez's gut disqualifying him must've been in another article. :). So Abernathy is setting himself up well for significant playing time? Maybe Sutton's heir. Push Martin just a little. Then when Shoop gets some time with Byrd this Summer? :)

Didn't Abernathy move to safety?

Micah played quite a bit last season in important roles on D and ST. For some reason, he was just a player who doesn't get fan hype. Gonna make a ton of plays this season I bet and maybe be a starter, who knows.
What a blessing it is to see how this staff has literally stacked the defensive backfield on this team since , say, 2011.

He didn't get the fan hype that he deserved because he made 3-4 really nice special teams plays that VN managed to credit to Malone. I think after this year people won't make the same mistake.:)

11-3 IMO. 2 losses in regular season...Florida and Bama. Lose again to Bama in SECCG. Win bowl game.
I disagree KB. We'll get Bama one of our two games with them. They were 5 points better than us at their house last year, I do not see them better than last year's team and 120 will be MUCH improved with Kirkland at the minimum having a year's experience and their D gets a chance to stop an improved +240/lb Hurd.

12-2...GA wins in Athens...beat Bama regular season...lose to Bama SECCG....win bowl.

Rest of the country starts having nightmares and wetting the bed thinking about 2017 and UT Football.

:hi:

That's reasonable, but I believe we will never lose another game... never-ever.

Why would we lose to Florida? Other than the fact that God hates us? This is the first year where we actually do significantly out-talent them. It clearly doesnt matter for **** in this game...but there is no reason to lose to them, with this roster, at home. None.

Wonder if Shoop got the memo on Jumper yet.

I'm not ready to close the door on Jumper just yet. If he sticks around and exhausts his eligibility, I'm sure he'll be able to make a real contribution to the team in some way. Sometimes it takes 3-4 years for the lights to come on for a player.

That being said, I'll definitely be worried if Kirkland gets injured at any point in 2016.

I really really hope shoop can take the top 10 defense we have, and turn it into a top 2 or 3 defense.

If he can do what I think he is capable of, we could very well be playing for a championship this year.

Much like PM's latest year, I think it will fall to the defense to be the catalyst to greatness.

I don't think it's an issue of the light coming on, hes just not that talented...certainly not to the level of the players around him.

Maybe. I've not seen anything at all that shows that he'll ever get it. We seriously might as well have played with 10 guys on the field instead of having him out there.

The most interesting man in the world, Robert Shoop. I'm so excited to see his defense, I already know it's going to be on fleek.

He was still just a RS Freshman.

I'm not saying I'd be comfortable with him starting at MLB, but by the time he's a RS Sr, who knows. The coaches must have seen something in him to give him the nod at the beginning of the year.
