No. I think they'll fly around more moving forward. But, the App. State offense WANTS that aggressive, attacking defense. They depend upon it for their offense to work. The big runs they were getting came mostly from over-pursuit, which comes from aggressiveness absent of discipline.
And, they were certainly flat, no question. But, I also think they were a little shellshocked after getting a three-and-out and giving it back on a muffed punt. Then JRM gets the boot.
Do they have to get mentally tougher? Of course, they'll have plenty more adversity before the season is over.
The whole team was flat. As I said in another post: They may stink, but it's a week-to-week game. They certainly have the potential to be far better.
Either this was a learning opportunity or it wasn't. We'll see.
I am not saying at all that I am not concerned. But, it's a little early for Chicken Little.
