Shoop's D: More pressure on opposing QB or on OL?

We've read some insightful articles [:hi: to Ace] about Shoops' defensive concepts:

And we're excited about Shoops' defensive philosophy:
"First thing I say to the guys all the time is `everyone has a game plan until they get punched in the face.’ We throw the first punch and we make sure it’s not the last punch and we keep on punching. That’s who we are.”

So looking at our opponents this Fall, considering which teams have experience at QB and which teams have experienced offensive line units...
upon which will there be more pressure to make fast, correct decisions against our D?

This is one of the things that gives me confidence this year. Shoop has a great track record of making life difficult for opposing QBs and we'll face a lot of QBs short on experience.

That quote gives me chills. I hope our defense swarms folks and makes teams break down right in front of our eyes.

I think the lack of experience in the trenches and backfield is going to hurt teams against us.

A&M loses starting C, RG, RT and starting QBs (Picked up Trevor Knight) and starting RB Tre Carson. A&Ms highest returning rusher had 196 yards on 3.6 ypc so I doubt they'll be relying on the run.

UGA loses starting LG, C, RT and starting QB. They still have Chubb and Sony Michel so they will be fine.

Mizzou loses starting LT, C, RG, RT and the 2nd string LG. Returns about 600 rushing yards.

Bama loses starting C and RT and starting QB and Heisman RB. They return about 300 rushing yards but I suspect Bo Scarborough will be an elite RB.

Florida loses starting RG, RT, QB, and RB.
Kelvin Taylor is the only player outside of Treon Harris to run for over 157 yards last year and Harris was moved to WR. Conkrite only averaged 3.6 ypc, but they did bring in a JUCO RB who's supposedly looking good.

USC loses starting LT, LG, RG and starting RB.
David Williams is the next RB up and he had 300 yards on a 3.5 ypc average.

Virginia Tech loses a starting RT and starting QB. They have a JUCO QB named Jerod Evans who will contend for the starting job. Trayvon McMillan is a good RB and Isiah Ford should help out the new QB.

I can honestly say there has never been a time I've looked more forward to watching a Tennessee team on defense than this coming year. I expect big things.

Call me crazy but I see us looking back at the end of the season saying our defense brought us to this point. I would like to see Kongbo playing D tackle in the first couple of games while Shy ease back into the game. If he can play at 280 then we will be a force on the run defense. This allowing Shy more time to return to his old form in the Aggie game.

I think you may see some of this if the other DEs can prove that they can perform at a high enough level without him. You could play Kongbo at DE on 1st and 2nd down and then slide him inside on 3rd down with Barnett. Obviously you'd have to manage his snaps, but that shouldn't be a problem with our surplus of DEs.
I'd have a couple lines that look like this...
1st & 2nd Down
Line 1...
DE: Barnett
DT: McKenzie
DT: Vickers
DE: Kongbo

Line 2...
DE: Phillips/Latroy Lewis/Mixon
DT: O'Brien
DT: McKenzie/Vickers
DE: Corey Vereen/Austin Smith

3rd Down
DE: Vereen/Smith
DT: Barnett
DT: Kongbo
DE: Taylor

Any snaps you can get from Butcher or Piccou along the way are gravy. Whoop will get creative with his 3rd down blitzes and guys standing up so its hard to say an exact line. Once Tuttle and Johnson come back the lines will be shaken up substantially.

Not disagreeing, but taking it a step further:

Against hurry-up or muddle-huddle offenses that try not to allow time for defensive substitutions, who (allowing for the moment that all are in sufficient shape to give 100% for 3-6 consecutive downs) would be our best "complete series" D-line?

Probably Vereen
Barnett
McKenzie
Kongbo

Outside of McKenzie playing DT for the 1-2 full series, the other three would be pretty much interchangeable from DE to DT.
