They have faced each other twice from Chaney's time here and Shoop at Vandy.

The total yards we put up were 290 and 303. The 2nd year Bray was 11/29 for 103 yards and 3 picks.

We definitely have more talent on our D than Vandy had and I think the offense from 2012 was much more talented than this UGA offense.

Just gotta smack them enough to get Chaney into his tunnel vision...then he's Shoop's bisch. :aggressive:

I'm afraid Chaney may eat Shoop alive.

And I don't mean Chaney's offense is going to eat Shoop's defense alive. I mean Chaney may literally eat Shoop alive.

I don't think UGA will run over us. Chaney is good,IMO, but not with running the ball. They will try to pa us but hopefully our pressure will force some int's. Shoop is really good and ,IMO, a lot better than Chaney. There are reasons why LSU and Auburn wanted him and they did want him badly.

Chaney is awful imo. I love this match up for us.

You cannot be serious. He is a great OC. Shoop has better players and is a great DC. I'm pretty sure we are getting a break that Chaney has to use a freshman QB or this game could really test our defense.

Great OC is a bit strong....

I would put him right there with Debord. They both have HUGE flaws but both can surprise you by calling a great game.

Chaney loves to be 1st and goal from the 5 and throw the ball 3 times. He also has a tendency to abandon the run game when he gets down. Smack Georgia hard early and their offense will fold, Chaney included.

I never thought he was very good. The 2012 offense was loaded and he had a decent year. He was run out of Arkansas and Pitt is much better without him this year.

2012 offense was loaded. They played like they were loaded too. If our O produces like that group consistently, then we'll end up in Tampa.

Never confuse one of the best offenses in UT history b/c of the fact that same exact team had most likely the worst defense in the history of UTFB.

I remember that same talented offense bogging down or choking in clutch situations when the outcome of the game was in THEIR court...mostly due to D's not having to commit to run responsibility. Chaney gets tunnel vision and forgets he has a rushing attack.

I'm just really impressed with Shoop. When he was hired he talked about how modern day offenses are so different than the past ones and how the changes have effected defenses now. What he said was true. At key times this year, VT and UF games, our defense has shut down opponents in the second half. It is really fun to see Shoop's strategy play out. That hire was one of the best decisions that an Tennessee head coach has made during my lifetime.

Having said all that, as good as I think Chaney is, nothing can change the fact that he has a true freshman QB and that UGA even has a new defense.

Yes he does LOL. I think Shoop will make their freshman QB look like one too. I wont be surprised if Dobbs has 300 yds passing. UGA's secondary wasn't that good to me.

My posts from the 2010-2013 time frame document my sentiments towards Chaney very well. I think his play calling is the worst thing I've ever seen and one of the reasons we were so bad during the Dooley era.

There was no consistency, an abandonment of the running game and his three chucks and punt philosophy exacerbated Swiss Cheese Sal's problems on defense because they never got off the field long enough to rest.

When CBJ repeatedly talks about playing "complimentary football" I think about Chaney every time and all of the times he left the defense out to dry by abandoning the running game.

He has been living off reputation for nearly 20 years because he had a once in a lifetime QB in Drew Brees. Nothing else on his resume makes him anything other than average or below average as an OC.

I agree to this, but for this conference. I believe he would fit well in the little 12. Texas tech type OC

I'm afraid Chaney may eat Shoop alive.

And I don't mean Chaney's offense is going to eat Shoop's defense alive. I mean Chaney may literally eat Shoop alive.

This is a legitimate concern. Maybe Shoop should dress as a salad. Chaney obviously doesn't like to eat salad.

I've seen Chaney abandon the run enough times to know that if we take it away in the first half, chances are he doesn't come back to it

Chaney likely early will try to keep his crowd in the game. See a couple of deep play action bombs on first down. Shoop has to know that seeing what the gators did last week. After that it will play out like it is supposed to IMO.

We need to slip Chaney a bad side of pre-game beef. make him define 'stopping the run' differently.
