Shoop toying with tweaks up front on defense

Please correct me if I'm wrong. The DE in a 34 is responsible for two gaps ?! So he potentially could occupy a guard and tackle. If Barnett is lined up at OLB and coming off the edge on passing downs, someone is going to have to make a business decision. What are you going to do?! If you're the oppositions LT , do you try and get a piece of Kongbo or Tuttle and try to get back to Barnett ?! Or hope your center and guard can handle K-Mac and Tuttle, and leave you singled up with Barnett ?! That's why I would have him at OLB. That and he has the skill set to pull it off and it would make him more attractive to NFL teams that run a base 34. His physical measurements say at the next level he's an OLB in a 34. Not that I wouldn't draft him if I ran a base 43.

This is the right idea, but I could see Vereen at OLB before Barnett because of his speed.

FTR, not all 3-4 defenses require their DL to be two gap players (though that is probably the standard). The ones that don't usually have a bit more stunts and twists though.

Edit: and FTR, I think Barnett projects much better as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB, though he could play either in the right scheme.
