3-4 still gives me nightmares.
Well, we still had the same level of talent as before, we might work together on a consumer study on effective tranquilizers. Ones that just knocks you stone cold and suppresses REM states completely.
And if our DC were Sunseri or Jancek, we might walk up and down Pat Head Summitt St with picket signs that say, "3-4? WTF?" until UT police runs us off. (after they have taken pics of our signs and sent them to Butch.)
However, there are obvious reasons why not to worry. Most obvious is this idea is coming from Bob Shoop. And the fact we are lucky enough to get him tells me we don't need him tying his hands to make us sleep better.
Second point is improved talent and team speed. At first we hope for it in the secondary. Now we have DTs and DEs that can move well. And if Kongbo really is all that and a bag of gourmet chips, I am looking forward to someone trying to defend him in multiple sets.
The final point is for our linebackers. We have several on the roster, but how often do we use them? Last year, Jancek had our D almost exclusively in a 4-2-5. If they mix in 3-4 sets, we give more of these guys playing time.
So, let's bring it on, and if it still worries you, buy a teddy bear. It worked for Mr. Howell.
