Thats what people said all last year too but the kid constantly found his way onto the field in meaningful plays. It sickens me how people bash the kid he played fine last year but everyone wanted Kirkland to the point they bashed anyone not Kirkland playing Mike. Funny thing most times we had 3lb's on the field Jumper was the third. I think he is the most underrated player on the team bar none. No I don't think he is a star in the making or the second coming but he is a solid LB.I didn't say how much he gave or didn't give. I was just showing who his father was, I think this is all preseason coach speak anyhow. I don't think Jumper will see the field outside of special teams this fall.
Implying play for money is a low class move. Continuing to do it multiple times in the same thread makes you look pathetic. Kid works his tail off and obviously the coaches think highly of that
of course he has to give him props. His dad is a huge donor to UT
Compliments from the coaches are one thing.
If he is starting at MLB again, I will have questions of my own.
If it's about winning, which we all agree it should be, then I would want seriously to know why the two or three better athletes at the position weren't given every chance to start.
By all accounts Kirkland stepped in with much less grasp of the defense than Jumper last year and proceded to thouroughly outplay him.
It would just be their pass rushing package. Then you put some combination of Vereen, Lewis, Phillips, Taylor, Smith, etc on the outside.
If an SEC caliber LT can't stop Barnett.... what do you think he'll do to an OG?

This thread is a breath of fresh air. Great to see Colton get respect from the coaches. It has been dismaying to read how some of our fans have excoriated this kid.
After all, he was thrown into the fire last year with no experience, and it showed. So what? Look at all of the highly touted guys who have done the same thing as freshmen or sophomores, only to bounce back the next year and shine, having learned the system and acclimated to life in this brutal conference. It happens over and over.
Does he have tons and tons of raw physical talent? No. Does he have heart, loyalty, enthusiasm and enough talent to capitalize on his experiences last year and be a significant contributor? Absolutely.
