Shoop confirmed on campus

Not saying he isn't good, but why is everyone so excited about shoop. Honestly I wouldn't know who he was if not for this board. Is it because other programs tried and did not succeed. I only ask because I do not know anything about him other than he is franklins coordinator.

Yes, entirely possible.

I imagine Shoop's agent and a contract lawyer on the agent's retainer met Shoop at the Knoxville airport, and they rode over to campus together. Once there, introductions were made, the agent and lawyer were thrown into a conference room with folks from the AD's office, and started hammering out details. Meanwhile, Butch and Dave led Shoop on a "meet and greet" tour of the facilities, introducing coaches and players who happen to be in town and available. Every once in a while, Butch or Dave or Shoop or all three would get calls from the negotiators asking for approval to take some step...and it's entirely possible that when Hart agreed to join the radio crew at 3:30, he thought the deal might be firmed up by then. But it wasn't.

So yep, coulda worked out that way, totally.

I think I just saw that info on a Penn St site, and his buyout was mentioned to be $800,000

Honest question....how many other top college DCs can you name off the top of your head?

He's definitely one of them. Had, on average, a top 20 defense AT VANDIE, with very little talent to work with and a crap offense for 3 years that kept his defense constantly on the field. Then went to Penn State, had to deal with awful James Franklin offenses again (in the 110 out of 125 teams nationally range) and finished #2 nationally in defense in 2014 and #14 nationally this year. He's good. Very good.

LSU and Auburn both tried to snag him and failed. That should tell you all you need to know about him
