PSU fans are bracing themselves

"Apparently Franklin and Shoop had a decent falling out in the past few days, and Shoop will not be coming back to Penn State as a coach.
Stay tuned"

If Schoop is hired, let's hope it doesn't turn out to be a bad hire. I don't believe Shoop is thought of as some kind of superstar defensive coordinator.

OK, I guess I'll be the first here to admit it. I'm assuming this will be considered a great hire??? Not questioning it at all, I just genuinely don't know anything about this guy. Is he considered a defensive guru or something? An elite recruiter? Put a ton of guys in the league? Someone educate me here about Bob Shoop and why everyone is freaking out over this.

Not a superstar coordinator, yet has been offered north of $1 million at three schools so far (LSU, Auburn, Penn State).

Right...

Shoop is what Tennessee needs to return to the national title.

He has produced top defenses for the last 6 years or so with no talent.

Shoop is coming off a stellar year at Penn State, with his unit ranking 14th in total defense and second in sacks with 46. But he's going to be rebuilding up front, as three-quarters of the Nittany Lions' stellar defensive line is either graduating or turning pro.

At Tennessee, he'd be inheriting a rising defense that should bring back eight starters unless linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin or defensive back Cameron Sutton returns.

Shoop has been at Penn State for the past two seasons, coming over from Vanderbilt, where he worked with James Franklin from 2011-13. It could be expensive to lure him away, though, as he reportedly got a raise to near $1 million per season last January after LSU inquired about his services.

Wes Rucker "Things are still progressing well with Tennessee and Bob Shoop, and barring some kind of unforeseen snag I think this could be wrapped up soon."

Man. Wrap this deal up and announce it, Coach. I have work waiting that I need to do instead of haunting Twitter like a Justin Beiber fangurl.

Coach Brent Pry has been Co DC with Shoop since 2009, has he been spotted in Knox? And are they a package? If so Martinez and Thigpen might be gone.
