Shoop confirmed on campus

Wow you sure made a lot of assumptions by reading that post. I don't see anything remotely certain about it.

It wasn't from reading that post. As I said, I went looking in other threads.

sorry. Been in Florida since the 29th and just got home. Didn't spend too much time on internet while down there.

As you know by now, we did get Shoop. It was not easy as his PSU buyout was an issue for several days. Earlier this week it looked dead and like Chizik was going to get it. But Butch prevailed. Fought for it and finally Hart gave in or they got it worked out.

His next post replying to a question:
Larry, are you hearing anything? IYO, what are the chances of any of this happening?
it happened.

Apologize. wasn't on much after the 2nd as we were all over Florida. arrived back home last night

I was out running errands this morning from 9:30 until an hour or so ago and missed the posts until just now.

Thanks for the clarification. That make a lot more sense. By the way, I meant to quote all of your post but it only picked up this one part.

Is that him in the back seat of the plane in your signature picture? I hate to tell you this but that is not a jet and it is going to take a while to get there in that thing.

That "thing", as you call it, is an aircraft that most military pilots would give their back seat in hell to fly. We all have to start somewhere, and I would guess that I know much more about jets that you..since I spent the better part of 25 years flying them. And by the way, that's me in the front seat....:)

He can always transfer here if he wants. He just would have to sit out a year (wouldn't play anyway). And if Franklin wanted to be a major tool (so probably), he could try to cause him to lose a year of eligibility by banning him from transferring here, similar to Baker Mayfield. Franklin would not succeed though, as we're not in the same conference and don't play one another.

Actually as a walk on, he isn't bound by the nli. So I don't think the transfer rule applies. Could be wrong though.

If he is a walk on,he can tell Jimmy Frank to eat his beans and franks and go anywhere he damn well pleases

You are...even walkons have to follow eligibility guidelines. Redshirt years...5 years to play 4...transfers et al.

I understand that a walk on would have to meet the same requirements, but not being on Scholarship, how can a head coach keep them from transferring?

That's a Navy T-28 Trojan, made by North American. It was the aircraft the Navy used in advanced training at Pensacola in the 60's. :salute:

My ex's father was killed in a training accident at Pensacola in an SNJ (Navy version of a T-6) back in 1949. (Yes, I'm that old. :))

Do you ever go to Oshokosh? I used to be able to identify different warbirds by their engine noise and other sounds, but that was many moons (and one marriage) ago. Nothing beats the sound of a radial engine, though. I still pull over when I hear a DC-3 lumbering overhead.

Because they fall under the same ELIGIBILITY requirements. Mayfield is still a walkon. Whether you're on scholarship or not, you have to be eligible to get on the field.

I have been to Oshkosh twice several years ago with a good friend of mine, but not recently. Unless you have flown the old radial powered aircraft, most people cannot appreciate the experience. Its much more fun than flying a blowtorch (jet).

Ok, so the rule is, if they were not recruited by the school they play for, they may use the one time transfer exception rule and go where they like. If they were recruited (preferred walk on maybe?) They follow standard tranferring policies.

Walk ons get screwed there.

5 to play 4 sure, but no nli means you aren't bound to the school. Thus, no transfer restriction.

If you ENROLL at a school, you're bound by the NCAA eligibility requirements. We've had walkons transfer in and they had to sit a year. And that's with permission from the previous school. Mayfield transferred without permission and lost a year of eligibility.

If they're not getting paid to play (via scholarship), schools shouldn't be able to control what they do if they leave. That's over the top IMO.

I get that. I just don't see how a university can keep a walk on from going wherever they want. I'm not disagreeing with you. I just don't see how that is remotely fair to the walk on.
