I remember the discussion. I also believe it was just football before adding in all other AD expenses

Just saying I see where folks would come up with the idea things are better. I agree with you, as far as the reserves go, we're a long way from Bama, for instance.

As it relates to the money required for Shoop, my opinion is that Hart got a 9 win team while having an assistant salary pool that ranked 10th in the SEC. In other words, a bargain.

He's also paid out what would likely be Shoop's salary for a year to Moshak and Co., Debbie Jennings and their attorneys.

Chaney just signed on for $ 800 K at UGA...it's time for us to make this move.

Hart talked about rewarding the fans on the radio today, time to pay up.

I wouldn't expect any news until Monday.

Apparently, TN state law requires a position to be open 7 days before a hire can be made.

Idk if this is an elite defensive coordinator but I do know he looks to be better than jancek and Tennessee is looking like they will pay elite money to get their guy. Say what you want about dime store Dave but this is a big time play by Tennessee's ad and Butch Stones.

Wasn't Barnes announced a couple of days after Tyndall was fired?

Not saying he isn't good, but why is everyone so excited about shoop. Honestly I wouldn't know who he was if not for this board. Is it because other programs tried and did not succeed. I only ask because I do not know anything about him other than he is franklins coordinator.

Translation:

I didn't take the time to do any research on Bob Shoop but I am gonna post, questioning the opinion of people who have actually taken the time to come to an informed opinion. Tell me why my uninformed opinion is wrong.

Donnie Tyndall was fired Friday March 27, 2015.

Rick Barnes hired Tuesday March 31, 2015.

That was not a 7 day waiting period

This has been in the works longer than most think.

Might explain why he turned down the Auburn and LSU offers so easily. He already knew where he was going.

Thanks for all you bring to these boards, and to UT football! :hi:

Shoop schematically is one of the most difficult defensive coordinators to prepare for according to some. Jones specifically said his defenses always were difficult to prepare for offensively. Shoop to this point has never had this level of talent though. He's not only a helluva a coorditator but he is a very good positional coach as well. His defensive backs are prepared and he puts guys at that position into the league. Supposedly he is also a pretty good recruiter. This looks to be an improvement on all fronts over jancek but we'll have to see what this does to the rest of the defensive staff.

Recruiting this year though is a little down and somewhat a smaller class will be taken. If you're making a major shakeup this is the year to do it.

Yea I can almost guarantee that the 7 day waiting period doesn't apply here.

Was he officially announced that date? I'm not sure. Could be unofficial and then actually hire on the 7th day? Idk

'17 class I believe will be one of the best classes Tennessee signs in many years.Just rumblings I hear from kids and coaches. They can afford to have a down year.[ I edited my original post, didn't finish my thought]
